Well... I don't know how to help much with the cravings, not knowing exactly what you're craving (sweets, carbs, salty foods etc..) but as far as general diet, make sure you consume a little bit more calorie wise than normal, this way you will be able to maintain your weight and not get drained from your workout. Also, variety is the key in your diet. If you eat something from all the major groups (grains, fruit, veggies, dairy and meats) then you should be able to satisfy most of your cravings throughout the day. And don't worry about splurging on candy or chips every now and then. Just don't over do it. Moderation is key here.

The less sugar you consume, the less you'll crave it. It actually has addictive qualities. Don't know what kind of food you crave, but a craving lasts only a few minutes. Distract yourself, eat something healthy. Remove the tempting food from your house. If it's not there, you can't eat it. I do keep a few "no-sugar" hard candies around for emergencies. If push comes to shove, I eat one or two and it's not going to blow everything.
Eating per se will not affect your abs. By eating less and healthy you will remove the fat layer over your abs and they'll become visible. Genetics plays a role as well. Some people will simply not develop a six pack ever, some do.

When you exercise your muscles use the carbohydrates (in the form of glycogen) for energy.
You should make sure that when you're done exercising you feed your muscles again. You do that by eating something with carbohydrates.
Suger is an easy way to do it, but using suger won't stopd the cravings, since suger is addictive.
Try to stay of the suger, you'll notice that you don't need it when you stop using it for a while. Some raw vegetables (like carrots or tomatoes) are great as snack and containno suger.
Try eating fruits after exercise, since they contain carbohydrates as well and they are healthy. But you can also eat bread after you're exercise. Make sure you use whole grain products.
You don't need to eat a whole meal after you're exercise, but you do need something whitch contains a lot of carbohydrates.
If you want to improve your muscles, you need protein as well, but don't start with a high protein/low carbohydrate diet, since then you're body will start breaking down muscles for energy. Carbohydrates are very important.
Last thing: drink enough after exercise, since you're body needs that as well, especially when you sweat a lot during exercise.

Best things to eat while you work, are fruits, specially the small ones, like strawberries and grapes and all berries.
I know they are expensive, but worth your your body diet.

i have lots of cravings, whether i am working out or not.
cravings are your body telling you that you need something, at least for salts or sweets.....when it tells you you want chocolate that just an addicition :)
seriously though, i find that if i take multi vitamins regularly my level of cravings drops dramatically.
