Where in the bible is Jehovah Jirah?

Jehovah-Jireh is the place where Abraham's near-sacrifice of his dear son Isaac prefigured Jehovah God's actual sacrifice of His dear Son Jesus Christ. Where is this place?

The bible describes the place as being in “the land of Moriah” (Gen 22:2). Jewish tradition claims that this was the site upon which Solomon's temple was later built, in the hills above Jerusalem.

Is there reason to agree with that tradition? Consider that Abraham had an earlier encounter with Melchizedek, who is described as both a true priest and a king of the city-state of Salem.
(Genesis 14:18) Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine, and he was priest of the Most High God

Clearly, Salem was the city that later became JeruSALEM. Since Melchizedek had been acknowledged by Abraham to have been a true priest of Jehovah, perhaps Melchizedek had some uncreditted role in the account which concludes with the naming of Jehovah-Jireh. How appropriate it was for Abraham and Isaac to travel to Jehovah's priest!

(Genesis 22:6-10) Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and put it upon Isaac his son and took in his hands the fire and the slaughtering knife, and both of them went on together. ...9 Finally they reached the place that the true God had designated to him, and Abraham built an altar there and set the wood in order and bound Isaac his son hand and foot and put him upon the altar on top of the wood. Then Abraham put out his hand and took the slaughtering knife to kill his son.

(Genesis 22:14) Abraham began to call the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. This is why it is customarily said today: “In the mountain of Jehovah it will be provided.”


This account is particularly useful in helping to refute the Trinity. Since Abraham and Isaac so clearly allegorize Jehovah and Jesus, one is forced to realize that Abraham and Isaac were distinct separate persons, and so recognize that similarly Jehovah and Jesus must be separate distinct persons.
