Slight? As in recovering? You've taken your child to the doctor and the infection is going away? If so, then going is just fine.
If you are passing off your child to a sitter while the infection is growing or you haven't gotten the needed medication, then certainly not! You should not abdicate your parental responsibility to nurture and protect your own child.
Concerts come and go. There will be others. Sacrifice of our social life and freedoms is part of the deal when we become parents. You are not facing a huge choice, and not breaking any new parental ground, just one of the hundreds of small sacrifices that come with being responsible for a child.
I don't want to sound harsh. Being a parent is exhausting on so many levels, and it seems like any time you make plans, something happens to the kids. But that's just life. Every responsible parent has been through this.
You certainly deserve a little break every now and then, but you'll find they will be simple little pleasures, and not the big plans you can make when you're on your own.

If it's a bacterial infection and needs antibiotics (Most pediatricians prescribe antibiotics without testing, just as a precaution. They'd have to rupture your child's ear drum to get some of the fluid and it's painful.), then make sure you take the child to the doctor and get the meds. I would think it's fine...just make sure the sitter has the antibiotics and Tylenol/motrin for pain (if the child is old enough to take either of those) and go to your concert. Ear infections are NOT contagious.

chances are your child will endure many more bimps, cuts, bruises, and colds, if as you say it is just a slight infection and you trust your sitter, i would give him his medicine, feed and bathe him, sit down for a little quality time with him and then take him to the sitter or even better if your sitter is very trustworthy, why not allow him to go to sleep at the house and allow her to come to your place and sit him, he will feel more compfortable at home, unless he is also very familiar with the sitters surroundings, but yes i think you should go, colds and the likes come all the time in children, your band may not preform again for a while....

as long as your son doesn't have a fever, it should be okay - if he has a fever, they will just call you back to get him - I am also assuming since you know it is a slight ear infection, that he has been to the doctors. If he is on antibiotics, then there is no reason to not go on with a normal routine. Have fun!

Sounds like a "deathbed decission" to me. Close your eyes and imagine you're on you death bed. Look back at the incident as if it was in the past. Now try to figure out which choice you would regret the most. This usually helps me to make the right choice.

Your kid gets ear infections? Sounds like a real wuss to me. I would drop him off, go to the concert, and never come back. Like he will ever find his way home...if he tried he will probably bump his toe. Waaahhh....

Depends, if he doesn't have a fever and has been on the anti-biotics (you HAVE taken him to the doctor, right?) for at least 24 hours.
Otherwise, I would say no. You need to stay home with your sick son. The sacrifice of having babies.
