no, my 8 year old is not whiney, she is very good. I know he is only 5 months old, but he whines a lot. I do not want him to grow up to be a whiny 2 year old.

Ya, it's normal. It's the only way babies can communicate. remember - they're brand new to the world and he likes the reassurance that mom is nearby. It's okay to let him whine and fuss and cry. Give him a toy (appropriate for his age) to entertain him.

If he's really fussy then perhaps he is hungry, tired, or has a belly ache.

His schedule is now your schedule. So when he naps, that will be the time for you to do household chores.

Good luck and enjoy your little boy! :)

Maybe get the 8 year old to play with the baby while you do whatever you have to do around the house. Just remember though that dishes and laundry can always wait a babys need might be immediate.

It sounds like every time he cries you pick him up and carry him around. The things you check for are: one - is he hungry? two - does he have poopoo? three - is anything pinching or pulling on his skin/does he have a rash? four - does he need to burp? Go through the check list, and if all is well, there probably isn't anything wrong with him besides being bored, or sleepy, or just wanting you to hold him. That's when it's ok to give him a couple little toys, maybe his foofoo (pacifier) and let him cry for a few minutes.

Hmmm...not sure what he is going through...mine is such a happy baby the only time she cries or fusses is if something is wrong or she is uncomfortable. She went a week or two with having "hold me" fits...it was ridiculous but I think she is over it now (since she has not been with my mom all day) she will play and talk and just look around...such a happy little person...good luck.

It is normal. He is just used to having someone keeping him busy. Get him some toys that have lights and music and are educational for his age. Let his sister help entertain him for a little bit. He will out grow this in time.

It sounds a little like teething. He is probably starting to get some new ones and they just hurt!

yes my daughter is the same way. it isn't that she needs to be entertained she don't like me out of her sight.

if she don't see me leave she is fine without me but the very second she sees me it is over.
