I have visited this lovely island. I'm sure it would depend on the length of time you wanted to stay, etc. In many Caribbean countries the American definition of "nice' (ie: modern, TV, new appliances, etc.) might not be island definition of "nice." The more remote inland/mountain area of Dominica is the most beautiful but barring short-term "hotel/b&b type accomodations" your basic rentals will probably be pretty primitive. To me, that's the beauty of the Caribbean; the local color!! Check the site listed below under classifieds. Prices are not given for rentals but each listing has an email contact address. The second site is also good and lists apartments as well. Again, you must email the contacts to get info. Contacting a local realtor who specializes in relocations might be an idea. Remember to get a passport before you leave the U.S. New regulations require one by the end of this year for travel in the Caribbean. Hope you find a great place. Lucky you!!

Note to previous answer: The Dominican Republic and the island of Dominica are not the same place.

I've visited Dominica (and the Dominican Republic too) along with many of the Caribbean islands, Costa Rica and parts of Mexico. For this question, click on my user name of porthuronbilliam and go to the fifth page? of my answers; there's a question about things to do in Dominica. From there, click on to Mega Nic's user name and message him this question (if he hasn't already responded to your question). I've chatted with Mega Nic before- lives on Dominica and is very knowledgeable of other Caribbean islands as well. Hope this helps.

ps- I did message Mega Nic r/e your question and asked if they would check it out and respond for you.

I was in the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) last summer, as I recall the hotel employees were getting approx $100.00/month, so I expect a nice apart will be very cheap.
