Welcome to the world of prednisone. I hate that stuff, but had to take it for a long time. It's a hormone type steroid, and can cause problems, but it does a lot of good when it's use if needed.
It can cause mood swings. When I first got on it, I was almost hyper all the time. I cleaned the house from top to bottom, and couldn't hardly sleep at night.
Then I gained weight.
One thing to watch out for: When taking prednisone. the glands that make the same substance in the body stop working. If you just stop taking prednisone, your body can shut down and there is a risk of death. Your husband needs to wean off of the stuff, reducing the dosage a little bit each day or week, depending on how long he was on it. Talk to the doctor about a weaning schedule.
If he was on just a short burst of a few days, he probably doesn't need to wean off, but talk to the doctor about it anyway, just in case.
Good luck dealing with him. He'll be off it soon, and life will return to normal. I'm just glad that I didn't have to deal with anyone on it. My husband had to put up with me, so it wasn't easy for him sometimes.

Prednisone can cause some changes including increased aggitation, problems with sleep, jitteriness and even, at high enough doses, psychosis. People react differently to the medicine, for example I take it occasionally for asthma and I never have had a reaction.
The question is what is he taking it for and for how long. You may want to consult the doctor if he will be taking it for a long time, you may want to just wait it out if it is a short time. Hope this helps and good luck.

Prednisone is a steroid... and can affect personality. That's why doctors only prescribe it for short periods of time.

I've heard alot about it causing personality problems and significant rapid weight gain. One of my bosses was on it and packed on 50 lbs in under 3 months. If there is an alternative he can take, have your husband get on it.

Yes, i have spent long periods of time on prednisone, it causes big mood swings and temperment changes, this goes away after he stops taking it, be patient, its not his fault

I experience a big change when I am on it, then when I am on my period on top of it...... well lets just say I am just short of blowing every persons head off..... haha.
Hang in there the whole 'different person' seems to be real common or atleast I know it is for me.

I was once on it for an inner ear infection and I was different, very. I was hostile, angry, and easily offended. I was also confrontational and aggressive. Not to mention, I blew up like a balloon. I was swollen all over. Solution? I stopped taking it.

Personality changes and psychiatric effects are noted as side effects.
Unless it's absolutely necessary for him to take it to survive, I would seek a different form of treatment.

I've been on it a few times, it tended to make me depressed but I didn't realise I was that depressed until I came off of it, so he may not even realise he is acting differently.

Predizone's a steroid, I think, and any hormone drugs can make you moody....check his dosage and call the 'doc if it seems like it's not doing him any real good...
