I just read on Yahoo news that France offers illegal immigrants a payment of money if they will voluntarily step up and deport themselves. Would this work in the USA for illegal immigrants, do you think?

To those who say they would just take the money and immediately return - not so easy if we were to batten down the hatches (seal up the borders air tight). I think if we offered them half what it would normally cost us to deport them, a lot of them would take the money and go home, especially right now with things getting tougher for illegals in the USA.

Just curious did it work in France? Was it basic set up money? What were the conditions?I knew they had problems but was unaware of this.
Always nice to hear what others do. I will have check this out.
I was getting tired of the other questions. Thanks

It sounds interesting, but most illegal immigrants really want to be here. I've worked with a lot of people from Central and South America - in my experience, they are hard-working, honest people who would love to be taxpaying citizens. They do low-wage jobs that no America wants - cleaning office buildings, cutting lawns, working in factories and picking our fruits and vegetables. The way our system is set up now, they are a drain on our school and medical systems precisely because they are NOT legal and they can't pay taxes. I say, anyone who wants to work hard and better themselves (and better America!) should be welcome here. Immigrants have always been the backbone of this country's progress. The times that we have been isolationist are the times our economy was the worst. Maybe we should make Mexico our 51st state!

No wonder the economy in France is so bad. I'm thinking that the the illegals here know when they have stumbled on to a sucker. Giving them money to voluntarily leave is only yet another way for them to scam the US government. Give them special buses and ship em out.

Why waste more of our money on them? I say, lets really secure our borders first. I'm all for a giant fence with 10' of barbed wire. It doesn't mean they can't come, it just means they need to enter through the fence. So, let's secure the borders and then round up the illegals and make them come the same why our ancestors did, the legal way!

Noooo they would just send the money home and or return to the Us again. Give them amnesty like they do every twenty years and tighten border security. Stop the war on Marijuana divert the money to help educate the illegals and our own children.

unlawful immigrants pay Taxs. Sending away tax payers is rarely a reliable thought, no longer interior the present state the financial equipment is in. unlawful immigrants do no longer destroy out with something, different than no longer being born of this united states which i think is a severe crime. surprisingly if we evaluate each and all of the severe crimes that circulate down. homicide, Rape, Extortion do no longer even come on the threshold of the evils of no longer being Born in united statesa..

They get the option to pay back taxes. How about this. With the money they got to keep from not paying taxes they can pay their on way home. I will give them a nice card that says "Stay the f^ck out!!"

The problem still remains that the illegal immigrant is still a burden on the tax payers of this great country

No because you are still rewarding criminals and what's to stop them from coming back? They'll still be back because they are greedy and just want to take more and more from the American way of life and sponge off what we have here.
