corporate tools to wrench around the american way of life? Do we really need food processing companies that only stay in business 'cause they've got illegal employees? Studies say over half the country needs to go on a diet, anyway...what gives, here?

Texas Co. Hired Illegals to Make MREs

McALLEN, Texas, Oct. 28, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(AP) A Texas employment agency was sentenced to five years of probation for hiring illegal immigrants to work at the nation's top producer of military battlefield rations, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

The Tollin Group was also fined $20,000 and ordered to pay $414,000 in civil penalties Wednesday. It has been barred from Department of Defense contracts for three years.

The San Antonio-based company, which does business as Remedy Intelligent Staffing, pleaded guilty in January to hiring illegal immigrants and trying to cover it up by falsifying employment eligibility forms. The workers were hired for Wornick Co., which makes MREs _ or "meals ready-to-eat."

The investigation was initiated in February 2003 after an al-Qaida operative was arrested with information pointing to McAllen and Wornick as terrorist targets. Wornick had been awarded a $47 million contract to produce more than 1.1 million MREs for U.S. forces in Iraq.

The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force ran background checks on Wornick employees and found hundreds of temporary employees with fraudulent documentation.

No direct link to terrorism was found.

Yes, I think I can agree with you on this. And if any companies cannot afford to pay legal American citizens to work for them, then these are companies that deserve to go out of business. If they can only operate by using illegal labour, then they are operating on borrowed steam, anyways.

freebird: Just for your information, I also see a lot of pretty hefty Mexicans, too. Obesity is not just an American affliction.

I am not sure that i understand that question! But i will answer anyways. A lot of the Mexicans do work that a White man would not do, or any other color for that matter. They do alot of work in the fields. I did not think that picken veggies would make a person fat. My husband came from Mexico and he is working a good paying good, he is legal.
Yes alot of people in the USA is fat. But i would not say that is because of Mexicans.

Maybe it's time to stop listening to just the rhetoric surrounding immigration and actually read what top notch US economists have to say about the impact immigration has on our society:

They are all for immigration, btw:
