my daughter who is now 8 years old and petite was 9 pds, 4 and a half ounces and she was born vaginally cuz i went through a midwife and 27 hours of labor, that was not a pleasant experince but did not know any better as it was my first baby, I, also was the maid of honor at my sister's weeding 3 weeks later so had to get back into somewhat of a good shape for the wedding and pictures..my daughter was 3 weeks old at the wedding and people thought she was 2 months old, she was so damn alert....my 2nd was a boy, he was 7 pds, 12 ounces and he was delivered vaginally after only 5 hours with a regular obgyn.my mom died suddenly at age 64 five days before my son was born, so the doctor wanted to see when i wanted to give birth and she also, gave me a choice to go vaginally or c-section cuz of the situation. I choose to go naturally and be induced, 8 days before his due date so i could attend the funeral/wake services. he is now almost 5 months old and weighs 14 pounds now. i would never go through a midwife again, i like the regular obgyns instead. they care more for the patient in my experience. By the way, sorry about your bad experince and you have a beautiful daughter, what a cutie!!!

3 c-sections, 2 not planned, the last scheduled. My babies were all pretty much full term and I have what they call "little babies" in this day and age.
6lb 14 oz, 7lbs 8 oz, 7lbs 4 oz (he was a week early)
The size of the baby isn't the biggest determinant on whether or not you'll need a c-section. Actually these days its mostly the doctor who is either too chicken or too lazy, or doesnt' want to be inconvenienced by a vaginal birth. Pretty sad state of affairs because c-sections are a lot more risky.
The most natural reason is when a woman's pelvis just won't separate enough. I had that problem and all three were positioned badly, one was completely sideways, and my son was actually able to keep changing positions AFTER they had already opened me up to take him out!
However, a lot of poorly positioned babies can be turned IF your water hasn't broken. Midwives are great at doing this, doctors often won't bother.
The best experiences in childbirth I've ever seen (have assisted quite a few friends) has been when the mom could use a midwife IN the hospital. Usually the midwife works with a doctor and if you deliver in the hospital, you get all the care and attention (and reassurances) of a midwife, with full emergency care and doctors a moment away if you have a problem.
Midwifes stay with you the whole time so they can really make for a much better experience. Oh..and they usualy cost thousands of dollars less.
Best of luck in the future. Just because the first delivery went badly does not mean any others will. Mine were all very different and all were worth the child I got.

I had both c-section and vaginal births. My babies that were born vaginal were bigger then my babies that were born by c-section! My largest vaginal delivery was 11 lbs 5 1/2 ounces! My largest c-section was 9 lbs 10 ounces. I've always been really lucky about fitting back into my regular size after the births, but I found it a little more difficult to lose the weight after the c-sections. Maybe it's because you can't move around as much after major surgery.

I had both my children vaginally. The first one was 7 weeks early and weighed 5lbs.2 oz. the second was 4 weeks early and weighed 5lbs. 7 oz. Both has a longer stay in the hospital than I so it was emotional and a kind of hard time for everyone.

My first was 7 pounds 10 ounces, vaginal, no drugs, (didn't have a choice too fast labor)
My second was 7 pounds 3 ounces, vaginal, drugs ( longer labor but I held out till I was 7 1/2cms)
We'll see what the third one is (I'm 5 months along)

I have done both. My c-section was my first born. She weighed 7lbs and 11 ounces. She was butt first and the cord was around her neck twice. My second was natural. She was 8 lbs and 12 ounces. My third was natural. He was 9 lbs and 5 ounces. My second baby was the easiest delivery; however, it was the worst 9 months. (was sick the whole 9 months) Glad I stopped with #3. Ours kept getting larger each time.

My first son was born vaginally (45 minute labor naturally start to finish) and weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces. I couldn't figure out what all the women were complaining about....lol. My second son was an induced vaginal labor (OUCH OUCH OUCH) and weighed 9 pounds 9 ounces....I figured it out...lol. My daughter was induced vaginal labor and weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces.
