disease* and yes it could be a few different things. Depending on what type of birds you seeing dead and where you live at this time of year the west nile thing is common. That's the disease that kills alot of birds from mosquitoes, so if you live in an area that is mosquito haven such as I do, and you seeing blue jays and other birds like that dead than that could be the cause. You should call the enviromental department of your local area and let them know you have found the birds, they should be spraying the area.

yes there is a disease going around in birds called the bird flu and i would suggest that u not get near the dead birds bcuz the germs can spread to humans and if a human gets it the entire human population could get wiped out in about a year or so, it is very contagious so if u have been around the birds u need to go to the dr to make sure u dont have the germs.

You haven't heard of the avian flu? But that hasn't hit the U.S. yet. If what you're seeing are crows, hawks, or other birds of prey, it might be the West Nile flu, which is carried by birds. My husband works at the Indiana State Department of Health, in the receiving lab, and all the counties ship him crows to be tested for it. Usually by the end of the summer, all 92 counties have it. But if what you are seeing are just songbirds, like robins or even blackbirds, it's not West Nile.

In Texas the West Nile virus is pretty common in birds. It can be transmitted to humans through mosquitoes. Try Googling the specific bird you are seeing and adding the word "disease". Here is a link i just googled .. good luck!
