I've met quite a few people from the internet, and ended up with some very good friends that I see almost daily :)

Yes! I moved to a new city and didn't know ANYONE so I decided to do online dating. I have dated a TON of guys through the net. My current bf and I met this way. I'm glad I did because not only did I meet a ton of new friends and got out to explore new places that I didn't know existed, I met a great boyfriend. If you do decide to do it, just use your common sense. There are weirdos out there. Dont' ever have anyone come meet you at your house and chat online for a few weeks before even deciding to meet and I think you'll be fine. I know some people think it is scary but honestly, I have the same chances of meeting a creep/jerk out at the bars or anywhere else in this world as I do online. At least with the online dating I can be picky with who/what I want and sift out some of the losers.

From those I have met, they seemed a lot different in person that they did over the internet and none of the encounters have lead to a long term relationship. It seems to be a trend that most people to portray themselves online as the person they wish to be, not the person that they actually are in person.

I have met for a dates after meeting online, but would strongly recommend meeting in a public place and do not give out too much personal info (where you work, live, your phone #s) until after meeting them and getting to know more about them. I gave out my phone number prior to meeting a guy one time and regretted after getting a drunken phone call from the guy at 3am wanting a booty call; I blocked his number and e-mail after that, thankful that he didn't know where I lived.

On the upside, I did have friend that met her husband online. They met up after corresponding for a few years as he lived half way across the world when they started chatting online, then met up and fell in love once he moved to the U.S. and have been married for several years now.

Yes, few years back, I met a boy in a chat room, we felt in love, we met, we liked eachother even more, BUT, I had another boyfriend at the time who was away and I couldn't cheat on him. So. I stayed faithful and refused the boy that I met on the Internet, although I've since regreted that.
So, I can assure you, there can be very good relationships over the internet, you just have to be brave enough to do something about it.

I met my gf on the internet ..been togeather (in real life that is ) for 5 yrs now .
As for "sickos" on the net yes there is that problem , then the same problem can happen in the traditional "real life" meeting of someone you dont really know . a few tips ...dont give out your address at first before you meet . always meet the first time in a public place eg restarant ,mall ,park with lots of people around.

I met my partner online...we met in a chatroom and just clicked. Then we spoke on the phone, and finally met up. We have been together 10 months now and are really happy together, in love with one another. He makes me extremely happy.
There are some strange people online though, although i suppose you could meet just as many weirdoes in pubs or clubs.

I met a guy yesterday as it happens - went for a nice walk along the beach then came back to mine for coffee in the garden. A very pleasant 2.5 hours. He's away now until Sunday so will have to wait and see if he enjoyed it as much as I did!

Yes I have met people from on line. Most experiences were wonderful! Nothing serious because I wasn't looking for that. My brother met his soul mate in a game room we all played in. They have been together for fives years.
