Keep in mind that kissing can lead to things. You know what I'm talking about. No one intends to "go to far" when they start things, but it happens. If you DO kiss him, make sure you do it in circumstances where you two can't "get carried away" and go further than you intended. Like a quick kiss in the kitchen while your mom is in the next room and might walk in any minute is good.
Avoid any situations where you two will have TOO MUCH privacy, or privacy for more than a few minutes at a time. BE GLAD your mom peeks in the room every 5 minutes "to see if you want some lemonade" -- she is helping you use your brains to respect each others' limits instead of letting your hormones take over.
If you are old enough to want to kiss boys, you are old enough to start learning about sexuality -- how to recognize sexual feelings and keep them under control, what to do with sexual urges other than "going too far", how to talk to your fellow about setting and respecting limits.
There are a lot of sources for this kind of information. First, your family and church. Second, your school nurse and guidance counselor. Third, organizations like My Future and Planned Parenthood. Get some information from all these sources and more so you will understand what is going on when the day comes that you want to do more than kiss. I'd hope that this day is quite a few years down the road, but knowledge is like money -- it's better to have it not need it than to need it and not have it.
WHEW!, that turned into quite the little lecture! Thank you for your patience in reading all that. All that said, I think 8th grade is a good age to get a first kiss, especially from a boy you really like. Instead of just kissing him, ask him to kiss you. And Happy Birthday to you!

This is amazingly cute and it made me all warm inside. I definitely think you should kiss him. If you make the first move and just DO IT, it might take him by pleasant surprise. Don't move too quickly in your relationship, you are very young and you have time to grow up later... but enjoy the puppy love feeling you have right now... appreciate the butterflies in your stomach and the awkward pauses and the tension between you... and if you ARE experiencing all of those things, you are definitely into each other and you should go for the kiss... make it some place private or special... good luck!

You are in the 8th grade which means you are probably around the age of 14 (give or take a year or so). I believe you need to wait. If he hasn't pressured you into doing anything, then I'd say you have a winner. There's no need to rush anything. You'll have many many years to experience the adult stuff in life. Don't start now. Be glad you have such a bf that wants to be with you for you and not what you have to offer.

If you feel that's right, by all means, do it! If his mom doesn't think you're 'worthy' of her son, then that's only the present thought. There's still a future. Don't let his mom take controll of it. If you guys actually get together, then one day, his mother will see how happy he is with you. Still, don't rush it too much. You still have four whole years before you go your seperate ways for college(or by some stroke of luck, go to the same one!). Good luck! â¥

Hey, nothing in the rules says your first kiss (for either of you) has to be a Hollywood Steamer. Take some occasion to kiss him on the cheek or let him kiss you on the cheek. (Or on the hand, in the old-fashioned way.) You won't spook him that way -- and if it doesn't feel good, you haven't done anything serious.
If it DOES feel good...but you don't need advice on that yet.

It will just happen when it's right for both of you. You don't have to plan things like a kiss just let it happen.
