Apple Juice is filtered and has a lot of water and preservatives added to it. Where as Apple Cider is just juice....no water and most places do not have additives in it. Some don't even pasteurize it. If you get it right from a cider mill it is all natural. Plus...Cider tastes so much better.

Apple Cider vs. Apple Juice
Apple cider is essentially apple juice that has not undergone a filtration process that removes coarse pulp or sediment. Cider may or may not be heat pasteurized. Apple juice has been filtrated, pasteurized, and vacuum sealed to give a longer lasting, clearer looking product. Most juices add additional water and other ingredients to maintain flavor and clarity. Outside the U.S., the term "Apple Cider" typically means "Hard Cider" while "Apple Juice" usually will get you a sweet cider.

Apple juice is juice pressed from apples and is a common beverage both for children and for adults, but in North America, apple juice often is marketed specifically to children, who are informally considered its major consumers. Apple juice is also a component of several cocktails. It may also be produced and drunk in a carbonated form, referred to as sparkling apple juice.

Apple cider comes in alcoholic and non-alcoholic form. The alcoholic form is called hard cider. In American common use, cider is usually understood to be cloudier, unfiltered and less processed than apple juice.
