Alcohol has 7 calories per gram. 1l of alcohol weighs approximately 800 grams, 1ml of alcohol weighs 0.8 grams.

Typical white wine would have 12% alcohol by volume (ABV), so in a typical 750ml bottle there would be 750 x 12% = 90ml of alcohol. So in that, a 750ml bottle of white wine would have (90 x 0.8) x 7 = 504 calories.

Vodka can contain about 40% ABV, so a typical 1l bottle there would be 400ml. 1/4 of a bottle of vodka would have 100ml. So a quarter litre bottle of vodka would have (100 x 0.8) x 7 = 560 calories.

On top of alcohol, these drinks may contain other sugars so depending on the type of wine, and what you drink your vodka with, the caloric contents would differ. But you're more likely to drink vodka with more calorific drinks such as coke.

For instance, say you drink your 1/4 bottle of vodka with coke. With every 35ml measure of vodka you mix a small 165ml can of coke at 73 calories. So total that up as [((35 x 40%) x 0.8) x 7] + 73 = 151.4 calories per drink. You'll get about 7 x 35ml measures in your 1/4 litre bottle so you'll get 78.2 x 7 = 1059.8 calories for 7 vodka and cokes to make up 1/4 bottle of vodka.

But on a purely alcoholic point of view, vodka would have more calories, and 1/4 bottle of vodka would have slightly more calories than a bottle of white wine.

It is without a doubt vodka, if you take a standard shot of vodka 25ml then it contains 71 calories. The same amount of any type of normal white wine contains 38 calories.

According to some basic charts, it appears that vodka has a higher caloric content than white wine, when the same volumes were used. Now remember that when drinking vodka, you usually drink it in smaller quantities than wine, or will mix it with other drinks. Doing that will skew these caloric results.

But if you want to find out for yourself, here's where to go.

Depends on the bottle, and who makes it. Go take the two bottles, and look at the health facts on them. If you are in the US, they all have a health facts spot that says all the health information about the product.
