Sadly this is true. Some people won't let themselves get over it. They think about their loved one every day, almost every minute of the day. My father-in-law did this when his wife died. He finally died 2 years later of a broken heart. You have to get on with your life, find new loves, challenges, etc. If you have a good outlook of the future and get interested in other things it can be done. You have to want to get over it. Some times it takes a long time. Be patient about it, it will come.

It all depends on the person who's heart has been broken. My Ex and I have both been deeply hurt. My heart has mended and I have forgiven her and moved on. She however seems to be locked in disbelief and denial, never advancing. So each situation is different, though I truly believe that each heart has the "ability" to mend. It is up to the individual to personally start the process.

It is true - some people can't seem to let go or accept loss. By not allowing themselves to let go they can never heal and sadly many give up and die. Some become bitter and give up on hopes and dreams. Becoming so depressed that nothing really matters. The goal in life is to seek and find happiness.

real! If it became someone that you somewhat loved and also you lost them your heart would under no circumstances mend. you'll discover love back yet no you'll be able to take that discomfort away. by the years you'll sense better yet your heart will under no circumstances mend thoroughly. ~Candice~

I'd have to say it's true. I got dumped six weeks ago & I am finished with men, love, relationships. I don't know how I'll get over this.

Loving like you've never been hurt is possible only if you've never been hurt. Once you get burned, you never feel quite the same way about hot stoves again.

Some really can stay broken, but if you're smart then you'll just move on.
