This person at work was always stealing my lunches so I purposly put laxatives in my pasta, sandwich, and various other items. This was after several people confronted him about this habit. Later, he felt the effects and spent the rest of the day in the crapper. Should I be ashamed for what I did or was I justified?

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! its nice to know people dont just sit and take it, I live in a apt bulding and we useto keep our laundry soap in the in the laundry area with everyone elses. well ours kept depleting without us using it. So when it was near the bottom I put about 5 cups of bleach in it and shook it up. Problem solved..nomore using my soap. Only downside is that I have not seen the result of my retaliation....boooo

I think it's pretty funny. I probably would have done the same thing, especially since the person had been confronted about the problem. If he is poor and can't afford lunch, he should've asked for help instead of stealing. I would never hesitate to share my lunch with a coworker who needed some help, but for them to steal my lunch behind my back is a big problem. You were justified.

As funny as it sounds, i dont think that was the right thing to do. We all want to see the town idiot get his come-uppance, but is it actually right? Maybe he's taking the food because he cant afford to buy his own. He may have a problem with his own money. Or, he actually doesnt care and will take the food no matter what anyone says. That is a form of bullying and harassment. harrassment is a serious issue and i would go straight to the boss with it. and if the boss didnt do anything about it then i would go to his boss and so on...get the picture. the ceo's dont want a harassment issue going on in the ranks, they want to see a well oiled machine. so, go to the boss first. and save the money you spent on the laxative and by a coke...

I would say justified, thats so wrong of him to be stealing other peoples food. It's not like you hurt him in any way, you were just teaching him its wrong to steal. If you bring your lunch you should be able to leave it in the fridge without worrying about someone stealing it. I say job well done! Now maybe he'll stop.

That would depend on your morals. Was it the right thing to do? No. You probably should have gone to your (or his) supervisor. Now you have put yourself in a position where you can get in trouble at work and possibly with the law. However...were you justified? Yes.

I think it is kind of funny. You didn't do anything really mean. I mean a lazatie didn't hurt him. It would have ben different for example had you laced it with some sort of illegal drug but you didn't. Maybe he learned his lesson. Smart idea! don't be ashamed. It was all you had.

Maybe next time you could confront them face-to-face like a man, instead of pulling the old "Dumb & Dumber" routine.... but I guess they got what they deserved, eh?

If he had the nerve to steal your lunch, then he deserved the consequences!

No, I did the same thing 40 years ago.
He never ate my lunch again.
