That is not true at all. I have good friends who are Hindus and some of them are dating or married to a non-Indian, and their families are very accepting of the union. I also grew up amongst Indians and I have witnessed plenty of inter-racial unions and they have been fine.
However, there will always be a certain number who don't approve and that has nothing to do with religion, just personal bias. Take for example, my fiancee and I; I am Asian and he is Caucasian. My parents are totally against the union even though they are devout Christians, whilst his parents have doubts and they are the same.
The reason was that they were afraid that the union would cause animosity from people who are against inter-racial unions. Both of us have gone out and have both gotten not a few scowls from both our races.
No matter how forward-thinking or open-minded a religion purports to be, every one of them still has roots in society and therefore, in the class system, which is still practiced in one way or another. That is why inter-racial unions are so hard to accept for some, because it is like marrying outside your 'class'. Not a lot of people are comfortable about it and so they react with fear and hate.
Don't let ignorance ruin your love. If they are not good for you, they are not worth the time of day, right?

Hindus are normally very helpful. The reason may be a cultural difference. In a society where there is a system of arranged marriages, friendship with opposite sex in some cases is not considered a good thing specially when the other person does not belong to their community Your friend is best man to answer this question.

That has not been my experience with Hindus at all. All the Hindus I have met have been very helpful and nice.
But........I've never tried dating one. I suspect that's where the problem is. I imagine if you converted to Hindu all would be well.

That is not the experience that I have had with Indian people. Is it possible you are mis-interpreting their gaze? I know when I was in India everyone stared at me. At first I thought it was rude, but then it was explained to me that they are very just very curious. So I smiled at when I saw someone staring at me and 9 times out of 10 they smiled back.

You say that all Indian people avoid you. This is obviously not true since your boyfriend is Indian. Generalizations are not productive.

If a lot of people are looking at you with 'angry ugly eyes', maybe you should ask yourself 'Is it because of me?'
I know many Hindus. They don't look at me with 'angry ugly eyes'.

im an indian and let me explain, the indian view of tolerance and acceptence of others has limitations when it comes to love...dating. we r only open to rubbish such as weird cons calling themselves gurus or devine beings.
we're the biggest hypocrits on the planet. we are racist, sexist, homophobes..etc etc
but at the end of the day we mean well.

im half indian and half arab.....the indian part wont even talk to me....and i dont talk to them either, but they are christian, so i guess its (1)indian culture and indian pride or perhaps (2)hate for arabs or (3)christian pride...hindu religion is pretty cool but it has some pretty nasty god, like god shiva, bringer of life and destruction, but so does christianity and islam....anyway im happy i have arab in me, i have a logical view and i left my parents religion of christianity and i currently am an agnostic....but i am almost sure its indian culture over indian religion...
