With Macs running on a BSD based kernel, it's really a question of Windows or *nix. And from that standpoint, I have to say it depends. Windows for real world functionality as MOST people use. It may be crap, but you should know it well in today's business world.

*nix if you're good and want power, flexibility, and the ability to customize your environment more than Windows.

Here's an interesting article:

It all depends as to which enviroment you are familiar with, i would say Windows are the most brain dead and fun of all thou i really hate those virus and trojans. Everyone complains MAC is virus free and so is linux, i agree. Why are they prone free, cos they are a favour of *nix(Unix), MAC is programmed in such a way that it is almost brain dead easy too, just click and install like windows. Had tried linux opensource, it has a huge learning curve like the command line(a powerful program that can command the whole system to run programs to install programs and much much more, but its brain straining.)

If you just wanna jump on to the wagon of downloading bittorrents and all the fun stuff and yet worried about virus, trojans and spywares. My advice is get another computer as in 2 computers in total, one for all your fun. games and downloads and the other for work and probably all your other committments. Get a KVM switch and you can save on the monitor and keyboard.

Triple booting is fun. :)

But for a single OS, I'd choose Windows for functionality.
