I have no idea about college requirements but I can tell you that math is the one subject you will continue to use over and over and over throughout your life. Take all the courses you can - especially if you're in engineering. A degree won't improve your ultimate paycheck but knowing how to add it all up and properly apply all you have learned will. Everyone can read and write well enough to get by in this world - just look around at all the "graduates" young and old who use improper grammer, can't spell, and who have terrible penmanship. English is nothing compared to Math. Keep up the good work!
