After providing for my family anf friends there will still be a very substantial amount left. I would like to do something worthwhile with this money. Any suggestions?

Change your phone number and make sure that it is unlisted. See an attorney and a financial planner.

Find yourself a good lawyer/Accountant and Financial Advisors - set up Money Market Accounts, invest in a home for the future, If you want a new car or clothes do it, and TRAVEL, BABY, TRAVEL!! You will learn so much by experiencing other countries, and wile you may already be an interesting person, it doesn't hurt to keep expanding your horizons. If you don't have a career, you might consider schooling now - or you will become bored and you can run through those dead presidents on green paper faster than you can say, I WANT THAT! , if you aren't already married, don't rush into anything! There will be lots of women who will be interested in you for your money! stay away from them - money doesn't buy love! You said you want to do something worthwile with your money, you can always support several children in a foreign country who have so little. You could really make a serious difference in the life of a whole family if there are more than one child in a family. My mom is setting aside part of her estate so that the kids will always be provided for, and for Christmas, she is planning on sending enough money to build them a nice house (not as expensive in US dollars as you may think!). You can have a HUGE impact on the future this way and you will be helping others which will make you feel great!
Congradulations and Good Luck!

Snack cakes, lots of snack cakes, LOL. Don't do anything with your money that has anything to do with giving it to any "established" charity. Almost every last one of them skim the donations so badly, very little actually goes to the cause you really wanted to help. But yet the President and officers seem to make large salaries and bonuses for work "well done" (ie, convince the poor saps to donate). Don't, give it to extended family and friends, they think you owe it to them and won't appreciate it as you may think. They will respect you for being shrewd, and trust me if they have a need they will come forward. Loan it to them interest free, if they respect you and pay you back, then give that amount to them on the promise they tell no one. If they don't pay you back you know what they think of you. Find a place outside of any small town USA that doesn't charge property tax, make sure there is an expressway exit going to what seems like nowhere and buy up the land. If there is no hardwood trees on it, plant it. If you still have money put in sewer, water, gas, and electricity availability. Then sit on it. There is no better investment than land, and in times of crisis everyone you know and love has a place to go. There is no better inheritance to pass on either. I'm very happy for you, good luck, maybe one day my ship will come in too.

Do you have a passion, something that pulls at your heart strings? This would be the question i would ask first. There are always needs, people struggling, animals struggling, children struggling. There are local Church's that sell $70+ worth of food for $25 perhaps you could purchase a few of these each month to help others from going to bed hungry. Local Animal shelters are another area of need, maybe contribute to some animals getting fixed, and their weekly food cost. Contact the local schools, they have programs to help low income families, with lunches, and backpacks filled with all their school supplies for the year. Perhaps you would be interested in sponsoring families and helping them to get into their first time home ownership. One of my dreams is to open up a salon of my own. If you would like to exchange further ideas you could e-mail me taffneygreen@yahoo.com or call me at 217-427-5274. Every one has dreams and aspirations for the future, what a wonderful position to be in, being able to reach out and touch lives in a positive way, blessings to you as you bless others.

Book yourself a holiday while you think of all possibilities. Make sure you are secure for the future then look at all possible ways to do something worthwhile. What about starting a youth group in your area helping form football teams etc or other sports. Or build a camp or hostel where less fortunate children can holiday.

Do me a loan so me and my family can get on the housing ladder. All legal and above board of course.

Alternatively invest it and put a provision in your will to create a park or wildlife area in your memory. Someone did that in my town and transformed a bit of undergrowth into something that serves the community. Most of the community don't realise though. I spoke to one of the gardeners there one day and he told me the story. i think it's what i would do if i was at a loss.

You may like to donate some to a good cause like cancer and healthcare for people in the UK. Invest some wisely and enjoy some too. Also you may wish to send £50 to me so I can buy a beer to help you celebrate. Well done on the win!

Help other people who are in need or set up a charity fund yourself.
I personally do not give to charity as most of the money donated goes to addministration.

Hire a fleet of jumbo jets.Park them on the runway at Heathrow and offer all these immigrants free passage back to their homelands, that way you will make an awful lot of English people very happy.
