Homosexuality in itself is not a sin. It is a way of achieving pleasure for all actively involved parties.
So why do so many people and laws demean homosexuality? Because it is not normal. It appears weird, and people tend to be afraid of weird things--people of an unfamiliar race, character, religion, etc. because they are UNKNOWN. Things that are unknown seem threatening and at the same time attract attention. Also people like to create rules and impose power. Essentially it is a (testosterone) sexual instinct in which leaders and followers (who also feel empowered) try to show that they have better genes/traits than an excluded group(s) (usually minorities). These 'genes' get passed along generational lines (not just blood-family lines) and become known as TRADITION. Religion is essentially a tradition: a code of conduct which is not bound to be consistently moral.
Even today, there are all sorts of laws that result from a lust for power and not from utilitarian reasoning.
THE SOLUTION to making people unafraid of homosexuality and other unknowns is a long and difficult one. It involves such things as EXPOSURE (to the unknown thing, to prove that it is harmless), INTEGRATION of the alienated parties to find common ground and common interests, good COMMUNICATION, COMPROMISE, FRIENDSHIP and LOVE.
Ahhhh! LOOOVE...

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.
God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin (Romans 1:24-27) and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it right for him to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true with homosexuality.
However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13).

The old testament refered to homosexuality as a sin. When Jesus died for the sins of the world it included ALL sins. Therefore, homosexuality is forgiveable just like any other sin and is not more or less grievous. It is between the person and their God, not something for any other person to make a judgement call on.

No, homosexuality is not a sin, and yes, religious people should wake up. According to them, masturbation is also a sin, and wet dreams are a sin, but we don't hear shrieks from fundamentalists about how masturbators are unnatural, going to hell or shouldn't be allowed to marry. That's because all the shriekers are masturbators, like everyone else who ever lived.

yes, there is a study that was done recently showing that the more older biological brothers a man has the greater his chances are of being homosexual. Because, when a woman is pregnant with a male child her body views him as a foreign body, or illness and starts to build antibodies to counter the conflicting type of chromosomes (mom=XX baby=XY). And sometimes by the second or third consecutive son, the mother's body has successfully developed a way to swing part of the baby's chromosomes to XY even though he is male, and apparently the first area affected is the brain. So, poof out comes a gay dude from birth. However, abuse and confusion have to account for some of the cases, that I have come accross.

Te only way homosexuality is a sin is when it is used as a red herring issue by the bush administration to get people's minds off real issues.

Scientific truth? It has never been proven. In fact, they have tried to prove it and found it inconclusive. Genetics can not control such things as who you are attracted to. Instead it is a choice. Now, I know many will argue with me. Because maybe some people who are gay want to be straight. But, I would have to say it was the environment they grew up in or the experiances they have that cause this. My little sister is gay. She has told me that she knows being gay is wrong and that she chose to be that way. But she still is that way...Many religious people do except science. Maybe you should wake up and stop make generalizations about a whole massive group of people. Wasn't it Einstien who said that the more he studied the universe the more he believed in a higher being?

In my opinion your born with it and have to exercise the same morals and restraints that any other person in our society does. But I believe that homosexuality is a deviation from a normal human condition just like being deaf or blind. Reproduction is fundamental to the preservation of the species. We have laws to accommodate the handicapped and some states have passed laws to allow homosexuals to be formally married. But whereas it's a constitutional decree that "all men are created equal" and that persons shall not be discriminated against on the basis of race, creed or color, there's no such rationale for society licensing blind drivers and pilots for example until future technology provides a way for the blind to be so accommodated. It's the same with homosexuality. Since a homosexual is born with a special abnormal affliction (that they must live with), they cannot expect society to automatically treat them as just another "race, creed or color" because they need special accommodations in society relating to their sexuality that must be legislated into law. They receive the same fair treatment and protection under our laws as any other special interest group does to accommodate their particular needs in society. The fact that we, as a society are having to debate those issues and legislate accommodations is confirmation in itself that homosexuals are born with something out of the ordinary. Yet in some cases homosexuals seem to be demanding that they should be automatically accepted in every respect into society.

Sin does not exist. Sin is a word made up to describe a misunderstanding people have about their relationship with God and each other. Daily we are confronted with situations. Each requiring some action or response from us. Some of our responses to these situations will have positive outcomes; some will create more negativity.
Our job here is to learn from these situations and our responses to them. If our response created a negative outcome we are expected to correct our response the next time we are confronted with a similar situation to try to create a more positive outcome for all involved.
This is the way the creator intended for us to learn. He/She does not judge or hold any thoughts of punishing us for engaging in this process. Focusing on Continuous correction until we reach the goal the creator intended for us to reach is all that is required.
