I almost became an organ donor. 4 1/2 yrs ago, i fell off my deck and hit my head, it knocked me out. Ended up having surgery on my brain to remove a blood clot, a-lot of Dr.'s working on me, in the middle of Surgery, one of the Dr.s came out informed my fiance' that my brain had been accidentally poked with a scalpal, and they had to stop for a while, i went into seizures. After 4 days of being in a coma, they were not expecting me to walk, talk or possibly not even live. As you can tell... i guess that i survived to "spite" someone. One of the questions that was asked is if I were an organ donor.. If i would have been, would have they saved my life at the age of 36, or~let me die, to harvest my organs. That is why I am not an Organ donor. Til this day, I am now epileptic. never was before that horrible night.

i would like to be but my husband is against it. further more i had a friend whos mother got into an accident. some how they let her ie because the person lined up for her heart. i have heard other stories will poor people could have been saved but because of the rich needing thier organs they don't get as much help as needed. i know the organ donor program is designed to not know where the kidney or heart etc.. is going to but when u are that rich beleive me u can get some insider info. but i think it is a good thing u are doing. another friend of mine's father was an organ doner and his eye some how helped some one have sight later on in life. good job and take care

I'm not only an organ donor, I also donate blood every-time I get a chance. I do it because I never know who might need my blood or organs to save their life. It could be one of my children for all I know.

I too am an future organ donor but I recently heard of doctors who didn't wait until the donor had finished with his organs before they harvested them. That can turn some people off.

Some people just don't take the time to think about it until they are the ones who need an organ. Then they realize how much of a short supply organs are.

I am an organ donor too. I think everyone should be. Many of the reasons that people choose not to are because of religious beliefs.

I am an organ donor, I carry a card, it is in my will, and I have talked to all my loved ones. So when I do perish, and my organs are still good they will go to people who need them. I think it is the proper thing to do.

So far I am not a donor. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I have heard that in many cases people who aren't even braindead have been killed for their organs. Also for a lot of organs you can't be dead dead or the organ has spoiled.

I am not an organ donor--I am not sure why, I think it's because I just want to be left alone after I die---and I know I will be DEAD so I won't know the difference anyway---it's a bit creepy to me knowing people would be hacking away at me---yuck!
