I have been working out for months, but I have not seen the improvement I want to see. I'm wondering if protein supplements are safe for teenagers and if they are natural.

Protein suppliments do not help teens nor older people with bulking up. They can cause embarrassing and annoying problems - such as diarrhea and excessive f a r t i n g. There have been some folks who overuse protein suppliments to the point that they start seeing kidney damage, which can be very serious.
Despite the hard work, you simply cannot overcome your genetic predisposition. You may well never be able to bulk up like ol' Hulk Hogan. Your real task, if you want to be in the best of shape, is to consume a properly balanced diet and to exercise regularly - which latter it does appear that you are doing. Good for you! That's something that everyone should do from adolescence on. Just be aware that appearance is not everything: you see few world-class soccer players who're bulked up like a Chicago Bears center, but those guys are actually in better shape than that center! The Bear looks mighty strong, with muscles bulging everywhere - and he is, but still, he is not in as good a shape as those slenderer, less musclebound soccer lads.
Lastly - yes, protein suppliments are made from natural ingredients - but that does not mean they're a good idea. Go back to what I said about the risks.

Very best way to see improvements on your body is to be patient first, and check your meal schedule again.
Personally if you are around 17 years old, begin the day with a breakfast at 7 am and every 3 hours eat meals. But small amount of food. Enough protein and fat, and carbonhydrates.
Personally if you dont have allergies tuna fish, chicken and eggs are the best natural protein supplements.

Protein supplements won't really help you improve muscle mass unless you're a professional body builder and your body requires the extra protein. I wouldn't recommend them for teens. I would recommend that instead of taking a supplement, that you increase the amount of natural protein that you eat. But be sure to balance it will plenty of carbs and limit the fat. Keep working out, but employ the help of a personal trainer or one of the phys ed coaches at your school. They should be able to help you develop a work out that will produce the results you're looking for.

If you're not a vegetarian, you can probably get enough protein in the foods you eat. If you want something more, I would try checking with GNC or a locally owned natural food store.

A good way to know whether it's safe would be to copy the ingredients of a supplement and ask your doctor about it.

there are two things you need to look at why you are not getting the results. First look at your workouts. Most teenagers and also adults don't have a clue on how to workout. Yes they know how to "lift". If you don't have a good workout schedule you are done before you started. Second look into your diet. At your age just eat a balance meal. I have trained many people and in as little as 4-6 months they had more results than others who had trained for a year or more.

Sure, I think they are. Especially if you're not getting enough in the food you eat. Plus they have plant protein usually, which is lower in calories per gram of protein than meat is.

Most americans get more than enough protein from their daily diet to support muscle growth. You should consult weight training books, instructors, etc, for tips on varying your routine enough to support extra growth.
