Some people seem to get to "play" all day long (including my boss) while I work. I feel like I'm going crazy being forced to listen to this constant chatter. Should I stop working and just chat like them?

Who is your boss's boss? Get a tape recorder and a large microphone on a stand and hook them up and turn them on. When asked what all that is, tell them the big boss wants you to record all the office sounds to see how much work is being done. They'll whisper then. If your boss checks out your story he'll have to open the can of worms with his boss to do it. If he does and then confronts you, tell him you said the big boss "wants" you to, not "asked" you to.

I was in the same situation, and I have a strong work ethic. I couldn't slack on work and have a clear conscience. The guy who sites next to me is a know-it-all loudmouth and makes me crazy. Get an iPod! Best money I ever spent.

I am in the same situation, when I am busy I try to block them out and continue working. If I have a few free minutes I try to join in to a point. Just do your job as you know you should.
