Consider yourself blessed to be able to speak good proper English --- when my friends and i hire people, how they speak is right at the top of the list.

Don't let your peers prevent you from living a better way of life.

The devision between Working Class, Middle Class, and Upper Class was never categorised by accent.

The criterior was originally decided on a persons annual income. I

A UK report compiled during the WW1 decided that anyone earning:

[1] less than £300 per annum was working class.
[2] between £300 pa and £2000 was middle class
[3] over £2000 pa was upper class

George Orwell`s "The Road To Wigan Pier" published in 1936 is a must read, On the entire subject.

When i was in school people said i had a posh accent, but as i have gotten older the same people have started to talk properly in order to gain employment. Take pride in how you speak!!

what the hell is an upper class accent? It's not called an accent when you use the English language correctly -- it's called being well spoken. Don't try to be what your not -- your a normal person who actually knows the rules of grammar !! Imagine that!!

lol lol lol. ohhh how we laugh at you. actaully many people thinkg they are working class when actually they are not. your sound posh cause you dont fit in with us. ive met people like you who thought they were mancs because they drank pints while going to manchester UNI. if your accent is posh it means people around you are posh and your nevr be anything else. if you want to fit in with "peers" get new ones. i bet your parents look down on your current friends anyway. probably behind your back. posh people are like that.

What if you are posh?
(Are you british? Posh is a brit modism)
That simply means you are better educated than the rest.
Dont feel bad by being smarter and more educated than everyone else. If people mock you, they're stupid. you can find a better job and friends and dates if you are well educated. Dont despise it.

Either you were insecure about your background, or aspirational in regard to your future - or just pretentious!

But I don't think it should matter what you're authentic accent is as long as you can communicate clearly and convincingly in the right way at the right time.

i actually have the same problem,, but i ve realised that it didnt really bother me, ok well it did and i ended up swearing about 10 times as much as anyone else, i would not suggest that though because now i cannot stop. so dont change and if you do it may be worse than if you didnt.
