The Quran borrows many stories and quotes from the Bible, but sometimes the events and sayings differ quite a bit from what is actually in the Bible. In some cases, people from the Bible are reported to say things which are not in the Bible.

Muslims will tell you "this is because the Bible has been changed to hide the truth".
I'd love to see CREDIBLE proof of that. The Dead Sea Scrolls show that the Bible compiled by the Catholic Church and the Bible which existed in the time of Mohammad are in COMPLETE AGREEMENT.

The Quran had a similar period of confusion before the "official" Quran existed. The following passage refers to differences or "versions" of the Quran which existed shortly after Mohammad's death...

Where can I find a CREDIBLE NON-BIASED source that shows Mohmmad's version of the Bible is accurate, and the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts ( from which the Bible is composed ) have been changed?

Great answers, but please don't misunderstand me. When I refer to the Dead Sea Scrolls, I am pointing out the fact that EVERY book of the Old Testament, except Esther, is present in the Scrolls, and they all agree with what we see today. This refutes the Muslim claim that there are additions, omissions, and changes. It shows that Mohammad is the one who is adding and changing and omitting. This is hypocricy, and must be acknowledged! I'll give you one example to ponder...

[9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

Apart from Mohammad's wish to have God destroy Jews and Chrsitians... Uzair is Mohammad's name for Ezra, and the Jews NEVER called Ezra the Son of God.
Get it now? Mohammad is putting words in people's mouths and calling it "truth".

God save us from liars!

smiling4ever222,
I don't care how well the Quran has been preserved. That's NOT the issue.
Your post proves my point perfectly.
You provide "quotes" from the Quran which do not exist in the Bible.
This is called "addition", and it is forbidden.
You still haven't given any indication of what was changed, you simply say "it has been changed" because that is what Mohammad insists.
Sorry, we need proof, and "because Mohammad said so" is not proof.

john w,
The Dead Sea Scrolls are written in Hebrew, just like the Old Testament scriptures which were copied around 900 AD. No I cannot read Hebrew, but when Hebrew scholars demonstrate that the scrolls match the "modern" copies letter for letter, it lends credence to possibility that perhaps the Bible has been preserved MUCH BETTER than some people would have you believe, namely, people who try to cast doubt on your faith with the sole intention of bringing you to their own.

Just say NO to intellectual dishonesty!

I'll keep posting this, read 'Why Trust the Bible' by Amy Orr-Ewing. She explains the flaws in the Muslim argument against the validity of the Bible. I hope you are seeking the truth for yourself and not engaging in faith-bashing, which will not show Jesus in a good light.....

Probably the easiest answer is that they are two different religions who follow two different prophets. But, more specifically - refering to the differences you mentioned - has to do with the canonizing of the bible. The church did remove several books and portions to make the bible more closely fit their views. As with many arguments related to religion, the biggest reason the church gives us is that "the Bible is the Word of God, if He had wanted those books in the Bible, He would have made it so." Not a very good "reason" if you ask me - especially when it's used to explain the actions of a group of men, working independently of their God to a rather un-christian-like means... the bible was canonized in the 4th Century AD (325 or "about 380" according to the sources I found). Christianity - and religion in general - was a very volatile topic, keeping the Romans and many others on the road to war for many years. Looking at the timeline between 200 - 400 AD (http://www.historychannel.com/timeline/index.jsp?year=200 http://www.historychannel.com/timeline/index.jsp?year=300) you can see Christianity was in need of some cohession and it was felt that the Bible needed to be refined as part of that.

What I find so ironic is that both religions profess tolerance and peace, but will kill anyone who opposes them or doesn't conform. OK, not Christianity so much, anymore - but they had their day.

But, I digress. Both religions have similarities, yes, but so do many other religions of the world. Most have an ancient tale of a Great Flood, most have a story of martyrdom for their God or prophet and how said prophet rose from the dead (rebirth). Many of the stories you find in the bible directly parellel stories of Pagan beliefs - heh... kinda funny... God told the Christians to write down everything the Pagans had already known... and change it up a little to make it edgy... hip... in tune with (then) modern society.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I am an athiest.

You seem to be misunderstanding Muslims..

We do not claim that we have a preserved Bible or Turah, rather we believe Jesus and Moses taught different books than the ones we have today, we believe a lot of verses were added, and many were deleted and many were changed, as those two books went thru a great number of revisions.. you can go to any library and find many Bibles there yourself.. that is why we do not believe any of today's Bibles are accurate, since there is NO ONE BIBLE and NO ONE TURAH... unlike the Quran which is still the same Book which the prophet taught, never changed, and never was modified.. the same book I read today, is the same which my ancestors used to read, and is the same which the prophet recited.. and that is all due to God's promise to preserve it from curroption of men.. as He said: "We have sent down the rememeberance [Quran] and Verily We will be preserving it [from curroption]"

I hope this answer clarifies for you our claims, our evidences for why there is no true Bible or Turah today and why the Quran is from the God of Abraham..

Good luck..

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to discuss my faith. As for the Credible non biased statement, that is just like the athests telling you to prove God exists it is there way of dismissing faith.

The simple fact is there are tons of versions of the bible and no two are alike. That is fact. The fact is books were removed from the bible at the council of Nicaea. that Humans felt did not belong. I guess they felt God needed an editor. We respect the Bible as Gods word but i would love to see the original transcrips and compare it to the hundreds of versions of the bible today.

Muslims believe God Allah (SWT) has been sending down the Same basic message since the beginning of time. To worship only God. That is why the Quran is similar to the Bible, simply put it has the same source. The same basic lessons retold. The similarities are what makes it clear that it is the same message clarified. Just something to think about. When Jesus Peace be upon him was alive he taught people to worship God (not himself) and said the father is greater than me. Seems pretty clear who he worshiped. I respect your beliefs I only ask you respect mine in return.

The Dead Sea scrolls do no such thing. The DSS are fragments of various books and include different versions of the same books. And, the DSS predate Christianity and make no mention of Jesus at all.

The New Testament as we know it was invented by Emperor Constantine and prior to 325 CE (ad),there was no "bible" or "New Testament." Various cults had different books they used and the Nicene Council adopted the Trinity doctrine. That became the cornerstone for "Christianity."

Unfortunately, they didn't burn all the books.

Sir Isaac Newton discovered the bible had been altered to make it fit Trinitarian doctrine. After which, he secretly became a Unitarian. Secretly because it was illegal to challenge Trinitarian doctrine and if he had publicly announced his findings, he would have been imprisoned or executed.

I am an atheist, but Muslims are correct when they claim the Jesus myth invented by the Catholic church was a lie.

So...what language are these dead sea scrolls written in? Can you personally understand them?
How many times have they been translated?
Many words in all languages have several meanings therefore it is impossible to translate ancient languages accurately. We can only guess at what was really meant..
Are you certain that there could be no misinterpretation in translation?
There is no such thing as a non biased scource.

1st. Muslims insist cuz they have proof. why dont u ppl insist?
2nd. in cases of religious scriptures only one false proof is surely enough. but Bible contains more than enough MATHEMATICAL errors. bible says
1.Earth is flat.
2. A Son was 2 years older than his father.

so on and so on....
if u really are searching for real truth. you have the truth i Guaranteee it.
just take a video of ((( Dr. Zakir Naik vs. Dr. William Campbell ))) Dr. Zakir has proved more than 22 errors out of dozens of proven errors with all the proofs. giving the chapter #, and verse #.
Dr. Campbell answered to only 2 of those 22 errors. which he himself said r not satisfactory.
Dr. campbell is an MBBS dr. for 22 years and has been preaching Christianity since then. If you really are looking for truth you will find more than enough in that video talk. My v dear friend, there's much much more.....just remain consistant and sincere, wish u best of luck!

besides...........Find out and show me ONE verse, my brother........only ONE verse, where Jesus say that
1 I AM GOD or
2 I AM GOD'S SON or
3 WORSHIP ME !

There is not a single verse in any version of bible that says this my dear..........!!! dont talk, dont think, find it out. (Y)

the quran certainly takes storys from the bible and misquotes them or uses them out of context and muslims will opnly beleave that although the quran says ask christians and jews about their holy books
but it also says kill the men and take the women for wives yet they insist it never contradicts itself
and unless you read it in the aramic you do not get the true meaning how many of them have done tha ??????/

christians have demonstrated that they are willing and capable of changing historical documents and destroying conflicting evidence so that the bible appears credible, not that they have, It can not survive, has not survived independent, rigorous examination. I can't speak of Islam because I don't know enough about it.

Because that is the entire basis of their religion, the entire reason their prophet was sent. The integrity of our Bible has been proven, but that isn't good enough evidently.

listen dear, listen from someone that God showed him the truth. with the one who created my soul and my blood and everything in heavens and earth that this religion (Islam) is truly a religion sent to you by God. ur problem is not Muhammad or Islam. ur problem in understanding God.

here are some logic:

-translation problems
-the word son does not mean son as we understand today
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=Ar1MDc4sRLfo6C7bxccs0p8jzKIX?qid=20060619180449AA0Cuqv

-trinity? . never Jesus or his followers worship trinity, but they worshiped God alone.
-1st commandment: you shall not take other gods before Me. some will say we worship only the father and believe in the commandment, but in reality they deny it. by saying Jesus is the son of God means God has partners. and Jesus is worth to be worshiped as well beside God. but the truth is God is the only one who should be worshiped and alone.
-John Paul was the only witness on translating and writing the Bible. in Islam there were number of trusted witnesses who remember the Quran and repeated to each other letter by letter so it will be very easy to see any mistake or errors.
-the ones who dare to kill Jesus son of mary. is very easy for them to mess with his book (the Bible) and kill his followers as well. however for Islam is different, the power and control was for the muslims. jewish weren't in control of Islam but muslims are.

-Islam is true religion from God. there is no man on earth can come up with all this by himself. Islam had the same structure as how Judisim and christianity have been build. such as Laws, worship only one God. HolyBook, Angel Gibriel, day of judgement, Hell and paradise... only God can do this. cults do not continue their religion to the fulliest. But Muhammad was trully supported by God. he is the comforter the one who will compelete the message of God. and he did.

-God promised by his name that this book (Quran) will not be corrupted till the end of days. and we only have one Quran. count how many Bibles.
