Perhaps at a later date, many years from now, like Amsterdam, but at the moment I do not think England is ready for this, though thousands think so, the majority do not. Although we tend to go with the majority which is not always a good thing, I think we should go with looking at the background of perhaps other countries that have decriminalised or was going to or maybe or other. It needs to be more in depth. There are a lot of people and not necessary the young that think it's okay and that they can handle it and it gets out of proportion and bang, they go on the stronger stuff and still think its okay and that they can handle it and before long they get addicted to other things and steal, mug etc for the money to buy it. It all gets out of hand. Let the Authority people go and live amongst these Countries for a couple of months to see peoples reactions and live their lives amongst cannabis decriminalisation.

Are you serious, do you know what kind of problems we have with legalized alcohol?
No, what’s next?
There has to be a line drawn in the sand. Just because you like to break the law or you think its ok doesn’t make it all right. Find something else to do with your time. Like educate yourself, do some hard work, run a few laps, pick up a few dumbbells (not your stoned friends).
Or here is a new concept, help someone in need, a friend, a neighbor, the homeless, an orphan, a widow. Hmmmmm

Let me first correct you. Don't get me wrong.
Cannabis isn't crime, its ilegal.
Everything considered ilegal, has possibilities of one day, or of by some actions, becomes legal while a crime can't never change for noncrimininal, the best it can happen on its case, is not be considered crime.
Answering you, "should cannabis be legalized?"
On my opinion no, because you are trying to get an exception, Amsterdan, and turn into rule.
Most countries considered pot ilegal, for their own reasons, but the most important of all, are the side's effects that its use caused on people with the pass of the time, those sides effects, are valuable enough to keep pot ilegal.
Another observation, we already have plenty of legals drugs to choose from (alcohol, coca-cola, cigarrets, prescrisptions drugs, and some others), there's no need to keep on legalize another one, and so on.

Sure!
Government would receive taxes. Service industry would provide services about stockage, transport, selling, hiring a lot of people on a formal way. Prices would decrease bringing Traffic to lower levels and they cannot fight against the country.
People would come out from the underground and business around this subject would increase common industry.
Forbbiden this kind of drug is like forbbid Alcohool. (What happenbed then? Jack Daniels?)
Its difficult put Cannbis toghther with other drugs. Criminality around it have many other factors and it need more wider study to undestand it.

Yes if for no other reason than because the government should not be telling the citizens how to run their private lives that doesn't effect others. Alcohol is legal with restrictions and it's just another drug as well. Taken in toto cannabis has far fewer harmful side effects than alcohol.

You aren't asking a wide enough question in my opinion.
Of the cannabis species plants there is Industrial hemp and Marijuana.
Industrial Hemp should be given a legalization program. There is no reason to keep this illegal. There are thousands of uses that give argument to making it legal and to little drug content to worry about.
Marijuana for recreation, no. There are enough drugs out there. Out of reckless drivers on the highway, marijuana is #2 drug causing the reckless behavoir.
Marijuana for medicine, maybe. Smoking marijuana is a horrible way to take a drug. It causes every health problem except cancer to do with the lungs. If Marijuana is to be used as a drug then it should be taken in a different form.

So many people think cannabis is harmless. Well it is NOT! In small occasional doses maybe but having lived with someone who smoked it regularly, you start to see the personality changes - the paranoia and anger - they are hard to live with. It is all very well to say people get all chilled out and love one another - but in the long term, it is NOT so.
I am sure there are many studies about use of cannabis - perhaps you should check some of them out and see what you think ................

Yes, as it only harms yourself not others. unlike drinking.
Two stoned guys arguing will end up saying they love each other. Worst case for alchohol is somebody dies through fisticuffs.
