When was the last time you saw your family doctor? Does your family doctor know about how you feel? Your family doctor may recommend you to go see a stomach doctor called a Gastroenterologist.
This type of a doctor is trained to diagnosis and treat a wide variety of stomach and intestinal problems. He or she may ask you a bunch of questions and do some tests on you, depending on what he or she finds out from your answers, will depend if your doctor feels it necessary for further tests.
If further tests are necessary, you may have a procedure done called a Endoscopy. This test will consist of giving you some light sedation and numbing your throat and placing a small "hose like tube" with a little camera and light at the end. The doctor can look at your esphogus and the lining of the stomach to see if you have any ulcers. The procedure, depending on the doctor, and what he or she may find, lasts 15 minutes to 1/2 hour or so. This procedure is usually not painful. The most trouble you may experience is a small sore throat, which goes away in 3 or 4 days.
Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon! I hope I was some what helpful.

I've live with peptic, gastric and duodenum ulcers since the age of 15 (all stress related). I'm now 27. You will need to have a GI and small bowel exam (doesn't hurt at all.) what you do is, you go to a hospital(your dr sends you) usually in the radiology dept. You are asked to be NPO (no eating or drinking after midnight the day before your exam.), then when you do go the hospital, you have to drink a liquid contrast (which taste like chalk), then you are asked to lay on the exam table and the tech with the radiologist will start taking xrays of your upper digestive area. The contrast will in sense"highlight" your insides which make it easier to see. Once the contrast has moved from the upper gastric to the mid then to the lower bowels, they will then take pictures of how the contrast flows and how slow or fast it moves in your stomach and bowels. This procedure does not hurts AT ALL. I've had it done about 9 times. I do have to warn you though, in case they don't tell you, drink lots of water after the exam or you'll get so constipated, you'll hurt for days. the contrast hardens up and fast. Good luck, you'll be fine.

The ulcer is removed by treating you for bacteria or virus. There is a national tummy virus in some degraded foods. Use a pesid ac type pill or for the bacteria make friends with vitamin C and the lemon.

well first of all the doctor will most probably place you on nexium tablets that really help the ulceris pain.he will then send you for a (BARIUM MEAL) xray .they make you drink a chalky substance and it does taste revolting but its very important.if this show's nothing you most probably make an appointment with a gastrologist which you will have a gastroscopy which will really show whats going on in your stomach.they can even take biopsy's from you stomach and test them and find out other things,my biopsy came back that im lactose intolerent so it was a releife to find out.......i hope ive been of tsome help....

You might be seen by a Gastro (internal) Doctor? Yes, maybe uncomfortable, they'll be sticking something up your bunhole to view and take samples, worst case.
Let's pray your quake Doctor can just give you a pill and a pad on the back and send you home.
