It is likely a swollen lymph node and not a big deal. However, I just got finished being treated for Hodgkin's Disease (Lymphoma, cancer in the lymph nodes and lymphphatic system)

I had nodes in my neck and arm pit swell and the ones under my arm were tender even though it was cancer (often if they're tender it's just a benign cyst and nothing to worry about)

You should never feel stupid when it comes to ensuring your own health! I just turned 25. A lot of people didn't believe I had anything serious either, even my doctors at first, and I had cancer! So it's best to just get to the doctor and get it dealt with early. Luckly we caught mine in stage two and now I'm in full remission.

Don't feel stupid and your bf is the stupid one for trying to make it seem like nothing. It sounds like a lymph node. If that is what it is, then it probably isn't anything to worry about. My son had a tick bite on his arm the other day and the node under that arm swelled. It was a lot bigger then a pea. He would complain about it and say that it itched and hurt. If that is the only one you feel, I wouldn't worry to much. Just go ahead and have the Dr. look at it. He will probably just give you an antibiotic and send you home. At least you will know for sure what it is. Don't let anyone downplay your health concerns. You are the only one who knows how you really feel. If you are more comfortable going to see a Dr., then do it.

there is nothing wrong with being concern about a lump in your arm pit. Even if it bothers you or not- it is still worth checking out. The next time that your boyfriend brings up the fact of going to the doctors about it-just ask him if he had found something like that on his testicles would he see a doctor? Breast cancer is a very serious disease and even though when medical attention is saught for a knot or lump and turns out to be nothing- it is better to be safe than sorry. You did the right thing. Just tell him to shut up.

Actually I wouldn't take this lightly. Try palpating your breasts of the same side see if you can find a lump. That little pea in your armpit may be a lymphnode. I'd advise you get a mamography done. I guess its better to be safe and wrong then too late.

In all honestly i would wait for 2 weeks and if the lump is still there then i would go to the doc, if your a young lady it could be ,hormones changing especialy around the time of your period , it could be a ingrown hair , boil not coming to the surface yet, caffiene ...a swollen lymp nodd ,, calicum deposit ,If it is nothing it should vanish within a week or 2 , if it is indeed something it's not gonna clear up and you need to get your but in the docs office..

FIRST THING...Please don't panic. The chances of it being something serious are quite low. Lymph nodes are located throughout the body; the neck, the groin, and under the arms. Lymph nodes often become swollen and this is merely a sign that your immune system is doing it's job. This is probably what it is. Nevertheless GO GET IT CHECKED. If anything, you will set your mind at ease. (PS Often, swollen lymph glands are somewhat tender).

Chances are it's nothing.. but don't feel stupid about going to a doctor... they deal wth this kind of thing all the time and aren't going to think you are stupid for being concerned about your health. Tell this boyfriend to chill out and respect your concerns for your own health.

If you have doubts about it then go to the doctor. There is nothing stupid about prevention. Even if it turns out to be nothing, your mind will be at ease. Much better safe than sorry.

You need to get it checked out. It can be anything from a cyst to a swollen lymph node. Did you possibly have an infection or cut yourself around that area recently?

SEE YOUR DOCTOR ASAP!!! It may be only a cyst or something else that is non life threatening. However, it may also be breast cancer, cancer of the lymph nodes, infection of the lymph nodes or any number of other serious problems. Please, never let any one bully you into NOT seeing a doctor. It is your body and ONLY you know when something is not right or does not feel right.
