Why is it that society is not willing to stand up for tougher laws for our children? Are they not a Blessing from God and should be cherished.........but we allow them to be molested, beat, and starved. Then we say......Lets give the person another chance(rehabilitate) to do the crime again. It has been proven that a child molester will repeat his/her crime again. Why do we not take a better stand?

Because parents think they belong to them, when in fact, they are on loan for 18 years. They are not chattel.

It is funny, when I investigated child abuse we were hated by everyone, especially church groups who believed that spare the Rod and spoil the child was the dictum, when in acyuality, shepards never used their rods to abuse animals, they used them to direct, or show them the path.

Most parents don't understand that under rhe Doctrine of Parens Patria the government has a right to intervene when the parents are not fullfilling a duty of care. That is old English law. Actually it started with the Magna Carta!

The 1st child abuse case in the 1800's was brought under the Protection of Animal law. Animals had some rights, kid's didn't.

I have heard all the horror stories, but some I used to pull the files on that were making complaints in the press and often said " I wish I could release this file!"

Where we got into the most heated exchanges was about abuse and a parent's right to punish their child. Many unfortunately did not understand the distinction between corporal punishment and abuse."

Though I am against corporal punishement for a lot of reasons, to include that it doesn't work as the slate is wiped clean after a kid is punished. This circumvents a childs natural feelings of remorse as according to them they already paid for the crime! You may think this is not a big deal, but that is where a kid lerns internal rather than external control. This is your conscience. I also found that allmost all parents hit their kids when they are angry, so it is a release for the parent and not punishment. You don't teach by punishment anyway.

Though those who used corp punishment I said little to unless they were on the line of abuse and had anger issues. Most parent's unfortunately or fortunately, depending on the parents, learned all their parenting from their parents! If they had abusive parents, then they were taught that was the way you deal with anger and big people can hit little people. I never understood the punishment of hitting your child if he hit someone else. What kind of message is that?

I never dumped on parents, but I didn't allow abuse to continue either. My standard was if the mark remains for 24 hours or causes bruising that is abuse. It is physical injury that causes bleeding under the skin from burst vessles. Though if it were minor, I talked to the parents and if it were major, they usually had issues large enough to be brought to court!

Sexual offenders I can write a book about! That and broken bones. The most serious offenders is what A. Nicholas Groth, who did a lot of studies and has written several books. The Handbook of Child Sexual abuse andby MD, Suzzane Sgroi. Groth refers to them as Fixated Pedophiles. There isn't a lot anyone is going to do about them because their primary sexual interest are pre pubescent chilren. The reason they won't change, or are candidates for treatment, is they are sexually attracted to kids. It would be like me sending you to a shrink to change a heterosexual attraction. Think it will work?

As most sexual offenses happen by someone who is a member of the family , or known by the family, many are not reported as somehow they believe the perpetrator much of the time. They have a vested interest in protecting the molester if he is the bread winner.

I can tell you that every fixated pedophile I ever talked to said they would reoffend. Regressed, or some call them situational, are not primarily attracted to children.

Anyway, this is getting to be a book.

Many sexual offenders do not have a high recidivism rate, though many have big issues!!

Parents or society has no vested interest in interfering in families. I didn't either, but the herdest thing to convince them of that there had been a complaint. Three times out of ten they were not founded reports!

No one wants to get involved!!And parents, for the most part are very uncooperative!

The worst thing about intervening in child sexual abuse is you get one shot, which is about 15 minutes, to make a determination of whether a child is being sexually abused. You need to be very skilled to do this because the stakes are very high. On one hand you don't want tp falsly accuse someone of sexual assault if they didn't do it, but then, you didn't want to set a child up for being sexually assaulted either. After that a parent will get to them and they will recant almost always!

Im standing with thenextiommi, society does not tolerate such behaviour. If you mean tougher sentances, capital punishment etc then it will never work. Child 'molesters' are not one category of person, each does it for their own reasons. Some can be rehabilitated and should be, everyone deserves a second chance

'Common Sense' is probably the least effective way of dealing with criminals. By its very nature, common sense is reactionary, harsh, ill-informed and unjust. The law must remain cold, and indeed 'blind', to be just

Just to say my final bit, i still stand firmly against Megans Law. Its a vigilante law, knocked out by politician s in the wake of a public outcry, no one is protected and paedophiles are driven underground, thus making tracking them harder. I would rather the oublic didnt know who was a Paedophile as long as the government did. Thats why im standing against 'Sarahs Law' in the UK

First, let's get the facts straight, no one allows anyone to molest, beat (unlawfully) or starve a child without consequences if they're caught --- Law enforcement daily arrests anyone who does that and the prisons are full of perpetrators.

Child molesters in prison are at the bottom of the social ladder and are harassed and beaten. Some chose to take castration drugs.

A molester released from prison must register as a sex-offender and his whereabouts are known. Many of his neighbors form together and force him out of the neighborhood altogether. Many of these molesters find themselves living far out in rural areas.

I dislike them too, but we must follow the laws as they are or make better laws

There has been a lot of improvement in the last few years as far as toughening laws in that regards. As long as you have liberal judges out there who think that rehab is the answer (even though studies have proved time and time again that sex offenders cannot be rehab) you will have these problems. You can help this by you and those who believe as you contacting your representatives and making your voices heard.

umm we dont allow, it. thats why rape and molestation are illegal. we feed the poor by giving meal tickets. beating children is also illegal, its called assault. but on the other side one mistake should not put people behind bars. if you had any sense youd go to meganslaw.com to be aware of the violaters. they shouldnt however be put behind bars for life for one mistake thats often drug induced or caused by some other curable health problem.
every single person that violates a sex law or abuses children is registered at meganslaw.org so stop bitching if someone gets raped by a repeating criminal its just as much your fault for ignoring all the warnings the government makes for you as it is theirs for doing it. so dont complain and go **** urslef

What would you have the law do? Would you like them to kill all sex offenders? I'd go for it but I don't think it'd pass in the Senate or Congress. They do need harsher penalties for what they do but it isn't likely that will happen anytime soon.

Why don't you go do it if you're so worried... After all we have to stick up for the people who can't speak for themselves... Especially the fat people! With a name like snuggles... we have to hug the people with AIDS and people that have scabies :0)

There are lots of people who would make fun of the possibility of changing their fates. This is due to the fact that it believes that nobody gets more that what is written in his fate.
