Nope, but fortunately not all Christians are the same. Not all Muslims are the same. It is in all religions the stubborn, radicals that leave a bad impression on the whole group. Sad!

That's extreme, obviously. You're not going to turn to a religion of any sort because of something you read on Yahoo! Answers any more than I did.
I was once one who proudly claimed that I threw off the chains of my Roman Catholic upbringing and began to think for myself by claiming there was no God, or at least not one that I believed in. As I grew older, I mellowed a bit, and admitted there most likely was one, but that I proudly didn't belong to an organized religion because they were all cult-like.
My acceptance of Christ and my acceptance into the United Methodist faith came about not because someone told me I had to, or even because someone told me I should. If they had, I'd probably have run the other way, just to show how independent I am. For me, it had to be a decision I made on my own. I went back to religion because I realized I was only half alive without Christ in my life, but it was a very personal decision for me. Whatever you choose to do, it will be a personal decision for you, as well. My hope for you is that you find peace in whatever you choose.

No I don't think that they think at all when it comes to them tryin to convert the world to what they believe.
It is wrong and they will never see or understand that.
Not everyone can be the same if they were they might as well be robots.
Go truely live and will see if you still shove your beliefs down everyones throat. Especially after others have done the same thing to you.
I am not a ahteist either. But i do believe in what i believe Because of what i have lived through and what i am living through.

No, because
(1) some atheists were Christans and left the fold for a reason (lack of knowledge about the doctrines is usually not one).
(2) Christians are seemingly NEVER satisfied. Even upon conversion, they would still find some fault to condemn people to Hell anyway. Nothing is ever good enough.

I do not know about all this discussion, but it is wisdom for anyone who is set in their wrong opinions to shut up and find out the truth. If they don't they are an affliction to others around them, and they are not getting anywhere by being wrong. Only the truth will count anyhow. This applies to religion , politics and any topic. If someone is wrong , thinking for themselves does not do much good, and indicates the person has poor thinking ability. People tend to think for themselves anyhow, but the real question is: are they right, and do they care if they are right?

lol yeah, I'm up for conversion....got nothing better to do on a Friday morning :oD
I think they probably don't realise that they're turning people off from religion, they're probably exasperated at having to explain what is to them so obvious to people more and more (the same sorts of questions do turn up with increasing reularity on Answers), and wish we'd all just tune in the once for the miracle of wisdom to penetrate our thick atheistic brains so we'd stop asking all these awkward questions and realise the "truth". Understandable if you stand in their shoes, I guess, though if nobody minds, have my own question-asking shoes right here...

No, you don't have to convert to any organized religion, just acknowledge that there is a Supreme creator that is the first cause and principle.
You don't have to believe outright, but think how for so many
billions of years our planet float in space; the sun rises without fail; stars appear on the same spots without dropping; water that's tasteless yet quenches thirst; we have fresh air to breath; the sun's warmth is just right to give life to this planet; all these are Created and didn't just popped up. He 'gives' us the night
to rest our bodies and minds. So, my brother in this Universe,
think of how these all eventuated if there's no Someone who
made it happen.

there is little question "Madeline Murray O'Hare's son became raised atheist - yet he's now a Christian Peter Hitchens (Christopher Hitchins brother) became raised Atheist yet he's now a is a member of the Church of england those are properly known human beings actually of atheist inventory (raised as atheists - and heavily related to militant atheists) yet switched over to theism. contained in the U. S. the demographic of atheists has replaced little or no (age distribution) suggesting a substantial percentage of those self figuring out as atheists even as they were youthful ceased to attain this even as they were given older. i don't think of your thesis holds up very well.

The amazing thing about ignorant people is that the more ignorant they are, the more arrogant they seem to be.
I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years and these arrogant, ignorant people remind me of some of the arrogant, ignorant people who used to try to preach in church.
I wonder if he is a preacher? I feel sorry for the suckers who are paying his welfare check.
Debate? I thought we were supposed to be asking and answering questions, not debating.

No you should read people's statements instead of trying to grasp straws to defend what you can not defend and mock what you do not understand.
Get mad all you want... I am I am a thinking person too and I have the right to debate the unschooled comments that many humanists here make.
