There is no one miracle weight loss method that works for everybody reguardless of age. If there were nobody would be overweight.

But here are some tried and true ideas that couldn't hurt.

1. Drink more water. Not only will keeping hydrated make you feel better, and have more energy, it will also fill you up so you'll be less likely to fill up on fatty foods.

2. Make sure you eat enough. Many ppl think the only way to loose weight is to starve themselves, and that rarely if ever works. Generally all it does is throw your metabolism out of whack, it can actualy make your body go after your muscles instead of fat.

3. If you crave something eat it. For me personally, if I want a cookie, I have a cookie. I find if I am craving cookies, and I try to not have any, I end up getting a whole package and eating them. But if I alllow myself to have a couple, my body is satified and I move on.

4. Try to walk more. Taking a nice stroll around the block after dinner a couple times a week will do wonders. There are other things you can do too, like when your going to say the grocery store, park a bit further away. And if you go to the mall, make at least one lap around the mall at a brisk pace before you begin your shopping.
One way to make walking more fun is to get a pedometer. You can get a pretty good one for under $30, and it will keep track of how far you walk. I find this helpful for me, because I can set goals for myself, and make little competitions with myself to see if I can beat how far I walked the day before.

5. I think the most important thing you can do is not dwell on the weight. Concentrate more on being healthy. Keep in mind that many ppl who begin dieting will lose some weight in the begining, but then the weight will stop comming off. This is often not actualy due to failure, its because of two things. 1. When you first start dieting, you often lose just water weight in the begining. This comes off quickly. 2. Muscle weights more then fat. so often what happens is when ppl start exercising they replace the fat they had with muscle. The muscle is actually good becase it helps to beef up your metabolism.



The final thing I would advise you to do is talk to your dr. Like I said before not all diet and exercise programs are right for everybody, and your dr is probably the best person to tell you what is right for you, and what will work best.

There's a new book that came out this week called "The Fat Smashing Diet". I just picked it up and I'm starting it today! It suggests that you eat 4-5 meals a day throughout the day (fruits and veggies and yogurt and oatmeal), and do 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 5 times a week. This will "detox" your body and give it the wakeup call it needs. You do that for 9 days, and then you can eat normal food again, but still in small incriments 4-5 times a day. Good luck!!!

Weight training, the reason is because as we age, it becomes harder to shed excess weight. Our metabolism slows down. Now that you are 48 lifting weight will not make you into a pumped up body builder quickly but it will help you build up your metabolism and you will start to lose weight. Good luck.

eat healthy and make that 5 times daily with small portions.
Walk daily or ride a bike, i do and im almost 40 now and been doing this for almost 3 years and guess what..i work in a bakery lol.

I ride my bike to work daily and home and i eat small portions throughout the day...it works for me and it may work for you too, but ya have to stick to it.

learn to say NO to junk and fast foods.

eat 6 times a day just enough to where your satified not full exercise 30 mins a day dont eat past 6pm and drink lots of water and just 1 sweet a week
