This is very simple. I can't believe people keep asking this dumb question. Open your mind up a little. Or do you believe god made the chicken from a hand full of dirt and spit in it and it came to life. .Took a male chicken rib and made the female. lol Read on if you really want to know how it really happened.

The rooster and hen to start with, both sexes in one critter and would split to form two more. A by product was created from left over bone and other parts after the split which in time formed an egg. The eggs were fertile because both male and female was in the same body of the parent . This egg would hach and formed a new being and over time it turned in to a chicken. During this time the un-evloved parents or grand parents would stil split till the new prossess took hold then they died out or was eaten by the chicken.

So the chicken was not first because the egg was laid by something else. Over time the thing that was in the eggs mutatated and a chicken formed formed in the egg. The egg hached and you have a chicken.

So the EGG was first. But lets think about this too. .lol It was not a chicken egg becaue it was laid by something other than an chicken. Only the chicken came out of it. So was it a chicken egg because it birthed a chicken or was it someother kind of an egg because it was not a chicken that laied it?

But you did ask did the egg or hen come first. So it would have to be the hen because all mothers are called a hen be it chicken or other.

So in this case the hen came first. .if the question was chicken or egg it was the egg.

It cannot be the hen. Since to create an egg you need a male to fertilize. Then on the other hand it cannot be the egg. Since without heat it will die before it hatches.

eggs were never mentioned, and probably some animals just evolved to become hens... which made the eggs...

don't listen to itzme , a hen can lay an egg without the assistance of a rooster!!! and the chicken came first. God created all the animals of the earth. He made them to reproduce and multiply. just like God created man, and then woman.

Well since birds are direct decendents from dinosaurs, the egg would have to come first. The dinosaur didn't just turn into a chicken. It evolved and in that evolution, eventually, out hatched a chicken.
