I am terribly sorry for your loss. Death is a natural part of life and is another journey we all must take. I have lost a relative before, I know it is hard. You must trust yourself and your faith that he is in a much better place now.

Hello dear Aida!
It is sad to miss him already! You miss him, which means he was the best! He is gone and he can not transfer you so many ideas, thinking, love, etc.!
But, you are lucky you have such father! Even for limited time you enjoyed his companion, consultation, guidance in life!
Some advices that your dad would eventually advice you are:
1. We do not need the benefit of the friend, but the belief that the friend is there for us
2. The cultivated people mostly work on friendship and wisdom
3. Don't worry on what you do, but with whom you do it
4. It is more hedonistic to do good than to receive a benefit
5. The just person is the calmest; while the unjust lives fool of anxieties.
6. It is worth to respect the nice and virtues and the similar when they are useful in preparing real pleasure. If not, don’t spend time and effort on them!
7. The infinite time does not contain more pleasure from a limited time!
8. Principal and root of every good is the pleasure of the stomach, even the wisdom and the high posts are based on her.
9. The calling of the body is to do not be in hanger, in thirst and cold, who has those and expects to keep them can surpass anyone in happiness and prosperity.
10. The limit of the size of the pleasures is the effacing of every pain. Where there is pleasure and for how long it exists, there is no body pain neither sorrow in the soul nor both of them.
11. No pleasure is evil by itself. Though, some pleasures are result through which more trouble is created than pleasure!
12. We must not forget that the strong pains are passing fast, while the long time pains are not strong
13. For every wish, you must question yourself: what would happen when what I wish happens? What if it doesn’t happen?
14. Don’t do anything that you are afraid your neighbour will be informed
15. Let us not destroy what we have by willing things we do not have; but let us think that what we now have there was time we were wishing to have.
16. The wishes which if not materialized cause no pain are not necessary
17. Let us grateful to blessed nature, which the necessary made easy to get and the non necessary difficult
18. We must not force the nature but follow. And we will obey her if we satisfy our necessary wishes and those natural wishes do not harm us and if we securely control the harmful
19. The wealth required to live according to nature is limited and can be easily secured. While the wealth requested by the vanity is endless
20. Other wishes are natural and necessary, while other are natural, but not necessary and others are neither natural not necessary, but born from empty ideas.
a. Natural and necessary are those which expel pain, with the same way water expel thirst.
b. Natural and non necessary are those which just differentiate pleasure, without killing the pain, like the expensive clothes
c. Non natural and non necessary are the wishes for fame, show, etc.
21. If you want to make you child rich, don’t give him more and more money, take away his will for plenty and unnecessary wealth
22. It is foolish to request from God those which you can secure for yourself
23. Greatest result of self-sufficiency is Freedom
{and you, my dear friend, as a Libyan have learned it very well, especially during the Embargo!}
24. Necessity is terrible; it is not necessary though to live under the regime of need!
25. Living Free we can’t acquire large wealth, since this is not easy without servility to the masses or to the authorities. Although can have all the goods in continuous plenty. And if it happens to get large wealth, easily will donate to his fellow men winning their compassion and support.
26. The happiness and blissfulness are not result of large wealth, not of big actions, not authorative positions, nor power, but being away from sorrow, the calmness of feelings and the mental behaviour which recognizes the limits of nature.
27. Self sufficiency the greatest wealth
28. For whom little is not enough, nothing is enough
29. The wise man, even when he is limited to the necessary, he knows more to give than to receive, such treasure of self sufficiency he has discovered
30. We were born once and we will never live again. Every moment is unique, we will never live it again. Also, we do not govern the future neither we know it. Hence, don’t postpone the pleasure for later. Be happy with what you have and are.

You need to talk to someone. My girlfriend of 16 yrs was diagnosed with lung cancer in June'05 and was gone by October. First, I was numb, then I was inconsolable and then I became a basket case who wasn't especially interested in going on. A friend who had been through the same thing 3 yrs previously, told me about grief counceling, which helped enormously. I know, things seem dark just now, but they will get better.

I lost both my parents within 4 months of one another, my Mum died 1st then my Dad commited suicide. I thought i would never ever recover from such a loss, but in time you will remember the good times you had and smile. You wont ever forget him, as each day passes you will feel just that little bit better. The healing process just takes time. Be strong...
