Actually, muscle weighs more then fat. But as you start to change your habits, like dieting and exercising, the body will retain weight. It is a natural occurrence because your body doesn't except change rapidly. This is one of the ways our bodies keep from starvation, at least at first.

Yes, muscle weighs more than fat but if you keep up your exercise for a few days your weight should go down. Also the more muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism so if you exercise for a while and then stop (you shouldn't over-do muscle building at first - your body needs periods of rest in between workouts to recuperate) your body will continue burning more fat over a certain length of time. Also when you exercise a lot the first bout of wieght loss can be from losing fat but it can also be from water loss, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Water also speeds up your metabolism, just be sure to drink when you're thirsty and not overdo it and get water logged as this screws up your electrolytes. Trust me on this, I'm one of those people who actually lost weight from diligence and hard work, diet and exercise, and I didn't rely on any diet pills. (all those do is mess with your heart)

Hmm...so you want to gain weight, but still be healthy. If you are already lifting weights and building muscle that is good. One thing you might try is increasing your intake of protein. This is what your body uses to build muscle. Make sure you eat a balanced diet so your body is getting everything that it needs.

You can def drop some pounds earlier than you reap any. How rapid you'll see results is dependent upon your consumption of meals. Yeah you have to def watch the energy, but in addition keep an eye fixed on other stuff like carbohydrates and fats. For those who also keep your carb consumption to ~50 per day, that might quite aid. But yeah once I do cardio workout routines i see results in a couple of days.
