You're right, it's Harry Truman PA-C. However, they may have a PhD degree as well, in which case it becomes Harry Truman PhD, PA-C. And also, if you're referring to medical doctors, it's Harry Truman, M.D. -- not PhD. PhD refers to someone with a doctorate degree, M.D. denotes Medical Doctor.

Yes, Physician Assistants who have passed their certifying exam can sign their name Harry Truman, PA-C.

If they have completed training but not passed their certifying exam, they can only sign it Harry Truman, PA

If they are students in training, they sign it Harry Truman, PA-S (to reflect 'student')

The PA-C means they are "Certified", having passed their exam and can lay claim to the -C after PA.

Of course, they could go on to further their training and if they were to get a Masters or a PhD, they could sign it Harry Truman, PhD, MPAS, PA-C (Doctorate, Master is Physician Assistant Studies, and Certified PA)

Doctors in medicine have signatures that usually reflect what type of Doctor they are.
If they are a Medical Doctor -- Harry Truman, MD
If they are a Doctor of Osteopathy -- Harry Truman, DO

Hope this clears things up for you. Good Luck!
