Parents or babysitters, I am a teenage babysitter wondering what a perfect amount is to charge for babysitting? Do parents care if I set a rate, or do they really want to set the amount?

depends if you are sitting for them to go out or to work .
if for them to go out for an evening i usually paid/charged $20.
my last sitting job was for 3 kids people i knew had. one was just born and i charged them $50 a week per child which ended up being $150 a week . they knew they would pay that alone to a daycare for the baby so it was a bargin to them .
if you are sitting just one i would say $75 a week . for 2 $50 a week for each [$100 for both] , unless they are not in the same family
or 3 $50 a week for each still , but $150 for all 3.
if you sit for one child from one family and another child for another family then $75 to each family for one child.
i would set the ammount yourself . and discuss when you will be paid and how . that way there is no surprises and if payday comes and goes and still no pay you can let them know you must stop because they have not attempted to pay you .
i have 5 kids now . i dont work because it is just too expensive to pay for a sitter with 5 kids . i would be working just to pay the sitter if not still owing more than my check . if we go out somewhere which is very seldom we usually only go out for 3 hours and give the sitter $30 for those 3 hours , and we make it at a time the kids are asleep .
hope between my answer and everyone elses it helps you out some.
good luck

after I babysat, some yrs in the past, i charged, about $a million.50 a baby in preserving with hr. i'm at present babysitting my cousins son, now in the course of the summer season, from 7am to 430 pm and am nevertheless charging $a million.50, yet i'm in WI human beings may fee extra or a lot less the position you're idk. i wouldnt pass anymore than $3 notwithstanding an hour. because inspite of $3/hr. your making proper round $27( i didnt upload the 0.5 hour in there). and in case you'll that is a million.50 so that is $28.50. this is incredibly good. i wouldnt pay all people $8-10, human beings make that a lot an hour operating at a company. besides the actual incontrovertible reality that in case you presented your own nutrition to eat i'd likely pay a littl more desirable than 3. yet those are aspect you'll ought to verify out. purely dont take income of the couple purely becuase they have a more desirable income. you would possibly want to be sensible, and in the experience that your no longer certain ask you mom what she would pay you (in case you werent her baby) and babysitting your siblings (once you've any). desire this permits. good success ( I toddler sat my cousins youthful son ,who's now a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old, and he became extremely a handfull. transferring into each little thing.) ;) have relaxing!

I am an @ home mom and make xtra $ sitting a few kids.I charge $75 a week in my home regardless if they come or not, or $20 a day 6:30-6pm m-f, but I know some people that have a hard time and I have 3 kids 2 day and I'm charging $10 per kid per day, its cheaper than daycare! But set ur own rate cuz I found people like to take advantage, if they don't like it let them find someone else from my experience they will need u before u need them!

I usually sit two kids at a time. Depending on certain things like what time of the day it's gonna be or if I'm breaking plans to help someome out, if the kids are awake or not...it varies. I usually just charge $4-$5 per hour.
