A necklace would be a wonderful gift for a friend (who's a girl). Not sure what you mean by "cute"... just keep it simple (no heart or cross). She should enjoy it for a long time.

A pendant that is under $50 usd is fine for a female friend. Robinsons/May and JC Penney sell these in their jewelry departments. Something with diamonds suggests you have deeper feelings for her, and it's more appropriate for a serious relationship.
