There are many different reasons for hair loss. The best way to find out what the cause of your is, see a doctor. However, stress and diet are usually the main reasons. Health concerns such as diabetes and thyroid. Lack of stimulation to the scalp (lack of brushing, wearing a ball cap all the time) and lack of maintenance are a few other reasons. In rare cases a mite is the cause of the problem. In these cases you will need to see a Dermatologist. Also, genetics plays a large part in pattern baldness.

Fist the True name is "Male pattern baldness", over half the men on the planet suffer from it in some way or another and about one out of five woman suffer from it as well, It is for the most part an inherent genetic disorder usually coming from your mothers side of the family, for instance, if your mothers father was bald and your older brother is balding as well , chances are that gene has been passed on to you, there is a hormone called DHT that is secreted through your sweat glands on your scalp, most men that are bald have a tremendous amount of this, it clogs the hair shaft and constricts the hair from growing full, as time goes by the shaft gets narrower and the hair becomes thinner, there's another disorder called alapecha, this is very rare but it can be triggered by trauma or just something in the genetic code, that's when all facial hair and body hair falls out, many of today's miracle drugs, have a drug in them called, Minoxidil, this drug is a vassal dilator, it opens the pours on your head and supposedly lets the trapped hair breath, it does work, with only limited success, its good to start a treatment like this before you go bald or before male pattern baldness starts, this remedy though should not be stopped once you start, check with your physician first, i have heard many story's from men who say," i stopped and allot of my hair ended back in the drain," This is because the pores are shut off on the scalp, there are many alternatives, hair transplants, which is ware hair is pulled from the side of head and relocated to the top, the results are fantastic and for the most part its permanent, there are also none surgical methods, like hair weaves, toupees which are virtually undetectable, and do not come off, you can swim, shower just like it was your own, i hope i answered your question,

Several reasons can cause hair loss. HEREDITARY = usually your mothers father, but don't blame her or him. Also Mechanical damage(baseball caps, stressing the hair with chemicals, too much blow drying etc.) Hormonal changes that come with the aging process. Oil build up on the scalp, it's good to keep you scalp clean so it breath, and stop clogging the pores.

Be carefull about hair loss. I know a guy who started losing patches of hair and a year later had a stroke.
The doctor told him the hair loss was a symptom of a stroke and had he of seen a doctor he could of reduced his chances of having the stoke or at limited the damages.

I am not really sure, but I think it has something to do with heredity and jeans. My father in law has hair on the sides of his head but has lost it on the top of his head.
