Your statement:

"If you can answer that question, then you are ¾ of the way to realizing addiction is a myth created by the medical industry conspiring with lawyers in a joint attempt to defraud the public."

Is asinine...

Obviously you have never known anyone that was addicted to drugs, alcohol, or even cigarettes.
I am not in the medical profession, (aerospace), and have been a drug addict, and now chair meetings of Narcotics Anonymous. Addiction is real. If you don't believe it, go to an NA meeting.

I suspect that you are either a child, or have had very little life experience.
Addiction destroys peoples lives, and the lives of those that love them.
Every recovering addict that I have known, including myself, had had to fight against the addiction with every fiber of their being in order to have any hope of recovery.
An attitude like yours belittles the reality of addiction, and the people who are in recovery.

Addiction is not a myth - you can become unhealthily dependent on a drug. Sadly, it has happened to my Uncle and he is now mentally unstable. Our brain cells can die and our body can change due to the chemistry in certain drugs. The real myth is that things like marijuana is good for you - when all of my pot smoking friends became to dumb to graduate high school - right in front of my eyes.

sorry to disappoint you but addiction is not a myth. from personal experience, my addiction to alcohol was very real. now that i haven't had a drink in 20 years, i can see that there are many things that a person can get addicted to, including themselves. i hope your withdrawal symptoms are mild.
