Got this e-mail today:
As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.
Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ... all the little things that annoy me.
I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment..
Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated;
God is at work watching over you.
May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

You are assuming that anything "bad" exists. The fact is, this is God's world, and God is good. Something that you perceive to be bad--because it causes pain, for example--is an opportunity for God to teach you, guide you, and help you grow. If you don't take that opportunity, you will just think that something "bad" happened, and you might be angry, bitter, etc. Things that look bad--death of loved ones; major illness; paralysis; etc.--only seem bad if you believe that this world is the only world there is and that God does not have a plan to bring you to salvation.

that sounds like a good thing
There is the story about a farmer, his wife, a veteran angel, and a rookie angel.
The angels, disguised as poor travelers, ask the farmer if they can stay the night at his home, he agrees. The day after they angels stay the farmers cow dies. The rookie angel asks the vet why he didnt save the cow, the farmers main source of income, the vet angel says "Because the night before the angel of death came to claim his wife, I convinced him to return and take the cow instead."

You worry about your missed flight. Instead of thanking God that you weren't on it. Because, you wouldn't have made it to your destination. You weren't supposed to be on that plane. So what exactly was the bad thing that happened to you?

All religion ASIDE, because life happens, my friend. If it was all good for us all of the time, we'd be the most selfish, greedy, self-serving people alive. There must be balance in life. Try doing what I do: Turn your negative experiences into positive ones. The expression "live and learn" is a good one.

Bad things can happenm to anyone. It is a natural course of events that things, both good and bad, happen to a random number of people every single day, regardless of whether they are good, bad, or otherwise.

i've always thought that question was so cliched and just vaugely incomprehendable just because we will never find the answer. i mean sure, we'll believe that they're just tests of faith and that God has done things his way but honestly, even as a Christian, who wants to accept that?
knowning that, of course, we're only mortal, we don't accept a lot of things that God does which probably makes us weaker in faith and even weaker in mind because that makes us independent. It makes us want to rely on ourseleves and we, as Mankind, aren't very reliable. so these "bad things" that happen to "good people" is just our way of questioning God and his ways which he might not like. i'm not saying don't question him, i'm not saying don't grieve if you come across a horrible situation but it's always better just to let God lead and stop trying to define his ways.

People of all makes and models are tested. The good overcome and strive to follow God. The bad complain and just prove their nature.

how would you define "good"? someone who does good things once in a while?
According to Christianity, there are no good people!!
everyone is a sinner, and the world is cursed with sin. we are separated from God here on earth so that is why bad things happen to us
