I had 5 Yorke's and 2 of them LOVED cat food.. the other 3 would eat it a couple times a week but these 2 would turn there noses up at there dog food and eat all the food out of my cats dishes.. they loved the soft and hard food.. they were 100 % healthy.. as long as they get there vitamins they need from there dog food it is fine to give them treats like Watermelon and even cat food.. just nothing with CHOCOLATE!

My one Yorkie was a amazing 23 years old before she died of old age... very hard to believe my vet was totally amazed at how old she was.. there were times when i would call her for appointments he would say no way is that dog living.... and she ate watermelon and loved cat food!

I work at a vet clinic and while most dogs prefer cat food over their own it is not good for them. What it does to them exactly I'm still not very sure but I have seen a lot of cases where a dog isn't eating so they give them cat food and they take a turn for the worst. Please do not feed your dog cat food. As for the water melon I'm not sure but I don't think its bad for them.

Dogs can are like living garbage disposals. I'm sure they can handle watermelon; the seeds should pass right through their system. Cat food is fine too, I feed it to my dog when he runs out of food. It doesn't contain much that isn't in dog food. Just make sure they don't get any chocolate, its toxic to them!

Watermelon is ok, not the seeds. Cat food is higher in protein than dog food, so it can cause kidney failure in dogs. Feed him/her a good quality DOG food, like Science Diet, Iams, Purina. Find a good vet and don't forget his/her vaccines...and always spay/neuter.

Yea if your dog wants to eat it, it's fine but try and stop the dog eating the cat food, you are going to pay through your neck for cat food, if the dog wants to eat fruit there is nothing wrong with that.

Cat food is way too fatty for a dog, he would get sick. Watermelon ? It wouldn't hurt him as long as he doesn't eat the seeds.

Dogs are basically omnivorous & can thrive on a diet of lots of things in addition to meat. Cat food is actually higher in protein than dog food, so will be fine for the dog. Cats will not thrive, on the other hand, on dog food, because it does not provide enough protein for their needs.

It is very bad for a DOG to eat any kind of cat food because their digestive system does not dispose of it properly.

Neither will hurt him, but they aren't good for him to have, either. Dogs should eat dog food and dog treats.
