Volunteer at a zoo. They will love to have you and you will learn so much about caged wildlife.

I live in Southeast Kansas and there is a trainer here who raised large cats, bears, etc. for commercials and things - He always took his tiger to special events and actually let small children take their pictures standing behind the tiger at our municipal building one year after a magic show. I believe it was last summer, high school kids were out on their farm taking pictures with the tiger like had been done hundreds of times prior. A girl was getting her picture taken, the trainer was right there, she had had her picture taken with the tiger before. The tiger reached out a paw apparently for her foot, she screamed, the tiger grabbed her by the neck I think, anyway, broke her neck, killed her instantly. They are wild animals with wild animal instincts, no matter how long you have them and where do they go when you don't want them anymore. Please do some research before you would embark on such an adventure. Contact the Wildlife Waystation in California or Tippie Hedren's facility to find out where most of the cats they are caring for came from and why they are there. I also saw a special on Animal Planet a ways back about exactly this same subject and the sad consequences of owning an animal that can never be fully domesicated.

Exotic animals are illegal to own as pets in many parts of the world and completely in the USA.

A cub is cute but when full grown they need a large space, big $$ in meat every day for meals, etc.

Figure a full grown tiger will eat 5-8 times as much as you do per day, will need a home at least as big as yours if not larger. Plus you will need to find a vet that will tend to the animal in the first place and not turn you in.

Plus if the animal ever hurt someone, got lose and killed, etc....you would be held responsible for the animal and its actions. Just like dog owners are.

Yes. As a cub, it's gonna act like a cat would, but like a pitbull, it could turn loose at any moment. I took my cat from the wild and no matter how much we keep her inside and treat her like an indoor cat, she can't help but always want to go outside. We took her in as a kitten and we've had her for about two years and she still hasn't changed. They will have fun with you at 1st, but once they get older, they will get aggressive. There was a case where a man kept a tiger since it was a cub, but even as it got a little older, it still acted like a domesticated cat, but once it got too big, he had to give it to a zoo because it couldn't survive in the house anymore. It's kind of like locking a dog in a bathroom. It needs to roam free with a lot of space. As a cub i guess it's ok, but don't get too attatched if that's the case. But love it as much as you can!

If you have the money! All that Red Meat the Grown up Tiger eats is going to cost you! I can imagine a grown Tiger eats like two Cows a week or something crazy like that! Maybe you can feed him Rodents, but that's still a ton of rodents. Whatever you feed the Tiger, it's going to be a lot of food! And it's going to cost thousands of dollars. Not to mention the cost of the land, structures, vetinary bills. $$$ man. That's a lot of money.

Why not just voulunteer at the Zoo? I voulunteered at the Aquarium, and I got to treat the animals as my pets. I fed Penquins and Hugged Walrus, Dolphins and Beluga whales!

That is a definite no. Tigers are huge pets and require tons of free space to roam. They eat specific things, and are aggressive. They are not meant to be good pets. Trust me, I love tigers so much, they're my favorite animal too. However, tigers belong in the wild, not in a house.

If you want a tiger cub it would be best to get it as a new born and raise yourself, and teach it not to attack. and you need a special lisends to keep a wild animal.

if you have to ask then no, its not really going to be a good idea

they take a lot of special care and attention (and space and money and vet attention...) a lot of privately owned tigers are badly malnourished and do have adequate housing

and you have to know how to handle them properly or you could easily get hurt (they are heavy and strong when they grow up, not to mention the claws and teeth)

only if your Sigfried or Roy- oh wait, that's not true - yes, they are cute and cuddly as cubs but they grow up and are terriorial predators - not a good idea , but you can "adopt" one through the wildlife federation , check it out at your local science store
