Why does the Engine Computer system go into default mode when the battery is disconnected.?

Because it doesn't have a keep alive ROM memory. When the power is disconnected it will loose all volatile memory. When it's re-booted it has to go to the original flash memory because that's all its got, until it relearns new parameters. Jules, auto tech and lecturer. Australia.
