That is true...Never thought of it like that...If he is supposed to forgive you for all your sins...then why do people threaten us with hell....Probably because it's all a bunch of bull sh!t.

There are many different ideas on this. I will try and explore several. First, those who believe as you have stated will generally justify it by saying that it is not the particular sins that are being punished but Sin, i.e., the human sin nature or rebellion against God. It is this "treachery," like Satan's, that is worthy of eternal punishment.
There are other ideas as well though. The traditional Roman Catholic belief is that those who die "in faith" but "in sin" will suffer for a limited period of time in purgatory. (This is highly simplistic version of this, but you get the idea)
The theologian C.S Lewis (the Chronicles of Narnia guy and close friend of Tolkien) believed that God does not create hell nor send people there. Rather when we die we must choose to enter God's presence and be forgiven of sin. Those who are too proud to do so will remain apart from God. The torments of hell are simply the result of that separation. As "time" goes on people will become less likely to humbly accept forgiveness. Therefore, some people will spend an eternity in the hell of their own making because of proud stubbornness.
There are other Christians that believe in hell but do not believe it is eternal. This is called "universalism." It is similar to Lewis' ideas except they believe that eventually all will be won over by God's love and kindness. Here is a good web site on this http://www.franciscan-anglican.com/Universalism.htm

I believe that God gives us the choice as the bible explains, and if we chose to follow Him we will have eternal life. If we don’t we will suffer for it in hell and we will be completely destroyed .every one that sins will go to hell if they don’t repent but to say they will suffer for ever I think we may be missing it a little. God tells us that we will be cast into the lake of fire and be destroyed so there as to be a stopping point some were. How long, that is is any ones guess .My self I would just as soon work as hard as I can to get to heaven were I don’t have to find out!!!!!!

Hell is a symbolic meaning. God is love and he would never let any body burn in hell forever.all the answers are in the bible.and god knows that we are imperfect and when we ask for sincere forgiveness he will forgive us if we truly want to be forgiven and try not to repeat the same mistake.and not everybody is going to heaven either only the 144,000.everybody else will live in paradise on earth but until that day comes we will have to endure under satan's rule because god is not the ruler of this world for why does everyone suffer so much it is definitely not Jehovah's {god name} who is torturing us it is the devil.
P.S the next time jehovah's wittnesses knock on your door answers the door and ask them about it im sure they would be happy to tell you!

Because love does NOT mean a life without discipline, nor does it mean a life without consequences. We all have choices and we can, (through a relationship with God through His son Jesus) choose to live lives without sin.

bad_yellow that was a bad statement and for that you may need to be packin alot of fans and ice cuz that sayin just incresed your opportunity of living there after you die, but anyways, if you loved the world but all they did was disrespected you and was like "aww he is love, he'll just forgive me anyways" would you let them live in your house for eternity? NOPE YOU WOULDNT! Cuz if you think of it like that then you're just takin advantage of him and his unconditional love so if i was him i would throw you away too. God knows your heart and if it's to put him down your whole life and expect for him to show hospitality by invitin you to Heaven, he dont want you!

God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
For God so loves the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send his son into the world to condemn it, but through Him to save it.
