the us could have prevented the first 9-11 from happening, they knew before hand and chose to do nothing. So what makes anyone think they will do anything the next time something like this happens

do not concentration on the protection rigidity. we've a concept observed as finished of Governnment, that's to assert we positioned all resources of our authorities to a job. In an section like Iraq or Afghanistan we are indirectly combating yet another 9/11, besides the undeniable fact that the protection rigidity is killing off the worst of the undesirable men at the same time as giving the dept of State and others time to reform the governments starting to be an surroundings which couldn't enable terrorist to operate. So through making the international more advantageous we make yet another 9/11 a lot less in all probability.

Please no dumb answers? It's a dumb question! Terrorists have an advantage because they can pick random targets and strike at random times. At the same time, they do not make easy targets themselves because they are scattered, live in the shadows, and do not wear uniforms identifying them as 'the enemy'. They don't have to play by any rules or conventions, we do. They are fanatical and suicidal. We value human life and freedom. The U.S. cannot guarantee that another attack will never happen again, however they can do and are doing many things to significantly reduce the possibility. Many attacks on the U.S. have been promised since 9-11, none have occurred.

Actually, we can if we want to. I think some things are planned to happen in order to manipulate turn of events to come and I don't mean 'spiritual' happenings either.
With technology such as we have today, we should be prepared in every way to avoid another 9-11. It is possible our next 9-11 could come from within such as the Oklahoma City bombing.
This is an area where we can never be lax and we must go to extremes to keep it from happening because we have the power to do so.

Planes wont happen again at least major airliners. But other wise I don't think the govt is that much better off. They are still doing moronic shoe bomb checks and wont allow zippos and swiss army knives on planes. This to me is just a false show of enforcement to the population at large who rides planes.
Israeli airlines has been a target for years and follows different methods of stopping terrorists. They have ex-army guys work as stewards. They let zippos and swiss army knives on their planes.
Other attack-wise I don't think the various gov't offices communicate much better with each other. They are more alert which is a good thing and does make attacks less likely to be sucessful but they aren't perfect.

Yes they can and most certainly have. We just do not know about it. The real point is that we cannot prevent them all. A terrorist just has to "win" once, we have to win all the time. That does not mean we should quit trying.
To address the answer that the US Govt. knew and chose not to act, Intelligence is the art of picking out part of a whispered conversation in a crowded room, and trying to make sense of it before it is too late.

No, but I really, really think that they can reduce the chance.
There hasn't been another attack in about 5 years. Yes, we all know that doesn't mean by a longshot that there will never be another. However, the actions and steps taken so far seem to be effective. You can never guarantee someone won't slip past our defenses, but the goal is to make it so difficult that it's not worth trying.
We still have a long ways to go to get to that point...

Hell no, and it will never happen if we get a another great president like Bush. We don't need a tree huggingpussy democrat. If that happens all bets are off. We wouldn't be in this mess if Clinton hadn't been pussywhipped.

Not if there is a truly concerted effort by terrorists to make aniother strike. It would take a monumental effort by the jihadists to pull it off, but it is within their capabilities to do so. They would need some serious money and other assistance from al-Qaida to do it.
