I had this problem for quite awhile and used Q-tips to help. I worked in a hospital and went to the ER. and asked one of the doctors to check it out for me. She said my ear canal was "clean as a whistle". The problem?-too LITTLE ear wax from overuse of the Q-tips. I stopped using them and the problem resolved.

Various food allergies are common causes of 'itchy ear' (pruritis of the external auditory meatus). I experience this problem in reaction to dairy products and less so, with corn. Avoidance is the 'cure'.
When I do eat too much corn or dairy and the symptoms flare-up, a few drops of a quality, cold-pressed olive oil in the ear works well to control the itching.
Best wishes and good luck.

See your doctor to check out your ear with an otoscope, a lot of factors can be considered, you may have allergies, infection or fungi inside and may require treatment with the proper meds

Could be cerumen or it could be swimmer's ear or an external otitis. Have your doctor examine it if it does not go away. He can prescribe something to eliminate the cause of the itching.

We all have undertermined itching from time to time.
Very simple to see if this helps, costs nothing, won't hurt if it doesn't help.
Try peroxide first, put a half cap in one ear, leave for 30 seconds, turn head over and let run out, and do the other ear same way.
if this doesn't help the next day after your shower, do the same thing with regular old alcohol. you may have swimmer's ear.
both of these are safe and easy, i use alcohol after i wash my hair to get water out of ear. the alcohol draws water out and keeps from getting infection from water standing in ear canal.
the doctor told me about this about 50 years ago, and i have been doing it all these years. note that you may have inner ear trouble if you get slightly dizzy when you have alcohol in your ear.
it goes away as soon as alcohol is drained out.

You may have heavy ear wax - clean your ears out more often and see if that helps. If not, see a doctor - you may have something in there.
