Besides the over-quoted " man with man abomination" rule, have any of you narrow minded thumpers read the other laws in these chapters? Slavery, ritual animal sacrifices, women on their periods being unclean, women in the temple forbidden, men masterbating being stoned to death, it goes from ridiculous to moronic to dangerous without explanation! Read the crap before you spout it.

Since Judaism still subscribes to the laws of Torah, you probably should be banned from Yahoo for "hate speach".

In fact I "subscribe" (by means of RSS) to the Torah portion every week. I download podcasts of lectures by various rabbis on how the laws of these books are applied to our lives today. I read through the entire Torah each year.

Now move along with your life. Or perhaps just get a life. Leave the Religion and Spirituality section and go bug the people in the Health section or something.

the Jews of that time had to subscribe to those laws because they were Gods chosen people. you seem to be missing the point, and not reading it clearly. slavery wasnt racial or at all like it was in the 1800's, it wasnt even slavery, just servanthood. they dont talk about masturbating. i agree that a woman who is on her period should not have sex with a man, thats gross. if you dont read with understanding, then you wont get anything out of it.

but you are right in that many people quote the homosexuality verses but dont bother to read anything else which is very hypocritical

Those old testament laws no longer apply today. Those laws were done away with when Jesus came to earth lived and died on the cross was ressurected and rose up to heaven. The bible says God repented. If God repented then so should we. The only ppl that carry on those kinds of things today are the pagans with their blood letting and human sacrifices and voodooistic rituals. You don't see that kind of thing happening in todays christianity.
I FORGIVE YOU

These laws were necessary for ceremonial and hygenic purposes. They served as a signpost to highlight the holiness of God. God fulfilled these Laws so now the Law is written in our heart and we are free to be holy, free not to sin. The ceremonial laws are no longer necessary to follow (what to eat and not eat, hygeine laws) but the moral laws (sexual purity) have never changed, as they are part of the nature of God (this is clearly explained in the New Testament 1 Corinthians 6:9,10).
