First of all, there's nothing wrong with buying stuff for yourself, if you like it and if you have the money for it.

Now, if you're finding yourself having no money for anything else, perhaps you can try this method: split your money up in two - a part dedicated only to electronics, and the other part for other less important stuff. That way you don't have to feel guilty spending that money, because it's serving it's purpose.

Another thing to think about it this - any electronics you buy is an investment. So keep it. In the future, either it will become an antique, and you'll be able to sell it for tons, or it will increase in value. Aside from that, once you have children of your own, it will be something fun for them to play with. And lastly, you probably have a bunch of stuff that's only been used a couple of times, but you're sick of by now. Either sell it on ebay, or use it as gifts for other people.

I have been through this. I've gotten to the point where I can think to myself "Do I really need to buy this? Will this really make me happy for any real length of time?" and that helps somewhat. And sometimes I think of other things that I'd rather do with that money other than waste it on impulse items (like saving up for a vacation or something fun) and that will keep me from buying too much junk. There's nothing wrong with treating yourself now and then and buying fun stuff, but it can get you into trouble if you don't keep it under control.

It sounds like you might need financial counseling. You should really look into it, because once you have a family, it will start affecting everything thats important. Trust me, start young! Because there is nothing like realizing you've spent all of that money while your kids don't have food to eat, or clothes to wear. That's the worse feeling in the world. I had children young, and my husband and I learned that from experience. Luckily we had a lot of help from my mom. We've come a long way from that. But it isn't worth it. Start your good spending habits before you get to the whole family ordeal.

It is called "buyers remorse." You go out and spend money on stuff you want and then get the guilties later. It probably comes from your parents and the way they have modeling spending money to you when you were a kid.

You need to stop feeling so terribly guilty if you really are only buying a game or so every few months, unless you're in horrible debt. I am a gamer, too, and I have a tendency to overthink the limited game purchases I make. I've been trying to snap myself out of the same issue.

If its your own hard earned money you deserve to do what you like with it, if its someone elses money or if someone else is affected by your spending slow down and before you buy think do I really need this right now? I put off by thinking the price will come down or a better model may come out shortly.

Well, this is common with many people. You start to think differently at night... heck- I freak out, too. You just have to relax and make plans. If you find yourself arguing with the nighttime version of you, agree to disagree.Sometimes it can be hard to resolve situations like this but it is great when you do.

Do you have a financial plan or a budget? Write one up and strictly follow itp. You'll see that you'll have saved a lot of money. Stick to it though. 1 game every 3 months because you have responsibities to take care of first that take up all that time you need that your using on playing your games.

Don't feel bad. At least you are getting things to make you happy and will actually last. Think about those people who spend countless money on drugs and alcohol and cigarettes. At least you have something to show for it! Share if it makes you feel better!!
