It really does depend....
If you want something really cheap, try going to a dental school and see if they have a clinic. When I was in school, the clinic was charging 35.00 for a new-patient visit. That was for an initial check-up and x-rays.

My dentist charges 75-80 for just a check up. I have no idea what he charges for cleaning.
Dentists are expensive, it sucks to have to pay that much to go somewhere you hate!!
